yeah. done that.

uninstalled the driver in Device manager and rebooted.
when restart it detected the CD burner and found the files etc..
asked to restart.
Restarted.
that's what I get

Driver details

you're looking at the wrong drivers. You want the IDE drivers, not the drives.
Uninstalling the drives will do nothing. If you have Nvidia or VIA IDE drivers, remove them and revert to the MS driver.

In Device Manager, you should be looking at the items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers". You should have "Primary IDE Channel" and "Secondary IDE Channel" under that.

It's confusing to me too. I laugh whenever I install their chipset drivers and I see the prompt asking to install the IDE SW Drivers. That prompt should say something like: "Are you really sure you want to install the IDE SW Drivers? Because they really really suck.". And then if the person says "yes", it should prompt again for re-verification.

i winded up with 12 purple 4x dvd+r coasters using the nvidia ide drivers.......

new ones seem to work ok though, so you might wanna try the latest nforce drivers...seem fine for me and my pioneer dvr 106

Well, you can use those to scare birds away if you have a garden. I have heard it works really good, but then again, the people doing it were using AOL discs; that would scare me away too.
