Resolved [not implementing] Not counting off topic post

I've seen other forums where their off topic section doesn't add on to their total post count if they post in off topic/general discussion. What if amdmb adopted this. Many people's total post are misleading the bump thread alone gives some people almost all their total post.

i agree, useful posts are what should count, not the BS ones. i may not post very much, but im here very much and i pay attention to who posts where. alot of these guys with a few thousand posts would be cut down to a few hundred if OT wasnt tallied on their post count.

It is just for having fun. Postcount means nothing.

What about the mods with a few thousand posts in the bard at other non off topic forums?

Just because someone has a high postcount.. doesnt mean they know alot about computers, or are smart (like me).

EDIT** I realised that I called myself smart in this... I ment to say Un-like me... hha

Re: Not counting off topic post

an interesting idea. thanks for posting

i can see the points everyone here is making...but if we do that for OT...then we would be obligated to do it to any other non technical forum to remain consistant. then we get into the "why are post count tallies allowed in this forum...but not that forum?"

there is also the fact that there are alot of useful posts made in OT that arent considered "spam" by definition:

    http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=338517

    http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=338472

    http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=336760

there are plenty of others...but these are the first three i ran accross in the 5 minute time span i have at this moment.

we will not be implementing this one. sorry
    hmm...
