Whats the max overclock of a 9800 pro?

I've got a gigabyte radeon 9800 pro 128mb, at the moment ive got a vantec fan card and side panel intake fan cooling it and have managed to OC it to 412/365/

    1) With the cooling i have, whats the maximum overclock i'm likely to get out of it?

    2) I have an artic cooling vga silencer on order, with this installed how high will i be able to overclock to?

depends on lots of things, basically, as high as it will go stable will be your max o/c

probably slightly higher, but again, you o/c it, and you'll know, overclock it till you get artifacts, back off a bit, and you will know

I have an Artic-Cooling VGA Silencer on mine, plus I've flashed it to a 9800XT and I've been able to get it to 485 stable with no artifacts.

I keep it at 412 unless I'm gaming. I use Omega drivers, so I use Radlinker to speed up my clock speed for games (465 for games).

That's truely impressive! So far, I've gone to 440core/400mem and started noticing some "blips" in far cry. Sapphire 9800pro retail, r360 core, VGA Silencer rev3. With that overclock, I picked up 10 fps (from 51avg to 60avg). Min fps went from 12 to 13. That min fps is the real number to go by. I don't care about going from 50 to 60.

The VGA Silencer is worth every penny. Not only does it do a fantastic job keeping the 9800 cool, but it spats the hot air out of the case helping to keep everything else cool. Wonderful.

I can benchmark mine @ 491 core / 398 mem with no artifacts. I do however keep it lower than that to keep excess heat from being added to water. I would rather have a cooler cpu and a quick video card instead of an uber video card and a warm/hot cpu. Built By ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB. It has the R350 core so I dont think I can flash it to an XT which is ok.

Try a band saw if you have access to one.... I used a thin (1/16in wide 20 tooth/inch) sawblade. It cuts through the aluminum like butter.

That reminds me... the extra material from the edges of the heatsink I cut up (where they form a Y for the fan screws to grab) became heatsinks for the mobo's 6 MOSFETS. Those lil guys get hot hot hot (Chris Catan, Ricky Martin impression, SNL) especially if your feeding that processor some extra voltage.

You can also see the sleeved and heatshrinked (UV sensetive) power cables.
