Med-high end graphic card for 200-300 USD?

I'm looking for a new card... I initially sold my ATI 9700 Pro to upgrade to a 9800.
Over the summer I wasn't going to use my PC and hoped that someone else could take the depreciation for those 3 months...

Sadly, the prices haven't come down as much as I expected with the releases of the new cards...

Anyway, what card would you recommend for the given $200-300 price range.

The 9800 Pro is available for 200 right now... Is there anything better in that price range?

    Please let me know. Thanks!

    Q9300 with 4 GB DDR2 1066 RAM
UltraSharp 2408WFP (needs to be RMA'ed) on GeForce GTX 285 on two 18 amp 12V lines
    Audigy X-Fi Fatal1ty w/ Logitech Z-5500 & Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and HD 595
plus the usual stuff in a poorly designed Antec P180 PW case

ya, i am selling my BFG FX5900 Ultra. i upgraded from a 9800 Pro, it just couldnt give me the graphics i needed so i got this one for $400 at bestbuy like 6 months ago. it freakin rocks, but i have a couple hundred right now so if i get a couple hundred more by selling this i will get a 6800GT.

I checked up on the 6800 and noticed that the core mhz is way below the ATI's.
Its around 325, where the 9800 is at 380....

Shouldn't the higher be better? (I'm aware that AMDs run a lot faster than Intel CPUs at the same speed)...

And I forgot to add that I mainly want to play X2, Unreal 2 and new titles like Doom3 and Half-Life 2... Further I might get a CPU / mobo upgrade - something around a 3000+ (maybe 64bit - small price difference).

So, what specific nVidia card (model #) would be faster than a ATI 9800 pro but not cost much more?

    Please let me know!
    Thanks!

You mean..., you downgraded? There cant be "upgrade" from 9800Pro to FX5900 Ultra.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience...
