    Sourcer: BAD Trader!!!

I cannot post this in the above section so I'm posting here. I hooked this guy up beyond belief and the POS vanished. He took my AMD A64 3400+, Shuttle AN50R and 1GB OCZ PC4200. Please avoid at all costs, its been well over two months and I have heard nothing. Save yourself from this guy. We did the sale at Driverheaven.net but I thought I should warn everyone since he is a member here also.

    Re: Sourcer: BAD Trader!!!

Well, I thought the guy was great. We had many chats on MSN for months and he was a regular at DH. He told me of how badly he needed a PC so I did my best to help out. I sent him one week old parts which at the time were worth over $850 and I told him he can have it all for only $450. Not only that but I told him he only had to pay me $50 a week. Now I'm not sure about you guys but that is one hell of a deal that no one will ever return to me in a million years. He made one payment 3 weeks later and then vanished without a trace. I've sent multiple emails to all his adresses but no reply. Now there is no question that if the guy hasn't passed away he's definitely avoiding me. I'm not sure what I can do at this point. I do know he lives at indiana and theres another guy at DH that sold him a case and is in the same boat as me. I'll take any tips on how to deal with this but I fear the worst.
    Live and learn I guess
    Thanks

That is awful to hear. I will keep an eye out for him. I usually frequent 3 trade sights and watch ebay constantly.

    Re: Sourcer: BAD Trader!!!

Doubt that you'd want to pay more into this (legal fees, pursuing Small Claims Court, etc)...
Off the top of my head, that would involve running down ISPs and IP addresses and the like. If you could at least get a full name (and/or spouse/gf's name, you could try to track him through the phone book, then get a reverse directory for a physical address, that sort of thing.

I agree that it is unlikely you'll ever see the rest of the money, but if you were to post the details on as many forums with trade pages, and/or ask the moderators for their help, I'm pretty sure you could, at the very least, hamper his efforts to swindle others out of their money and/or hardware in the future.

My sympathy for your losses, best wishes for the future of your quest, and appreciation for sharing this with us all so we can better protect ourselves in the future.

Thanks guys, I understand that I wont be able to get my parts or money back but at least maybe we can stop him from doing it to anyone else, which is the most important thing right now. Its a shame the world we live in is full of people like this. Just cover your rears guys, I'd hate to see this happen to someone else.
I will also PM Tenax, thank you Soundforbjt.

I hope his actions do not deter you from future deals to potential hobbiest.

Understandably, if you never traded again it would be no surprise - but twice this week I have mentioned that when I first started building last year I was amazed that "strangers" from a board would send me parts for "free" until later.

Granted - I semi-pressure people to speak to me on the fone {for my sake and theirs} as well as present a responsible adult to them - but still, those of you traders that go the distance and send parts to a juvi for payment later are surely mentors to many for that fact alone.

I applaud your trust, and hope somehow something positive can be tilled from this for somebody.

    Re: Sourcer: BAD Trader!!!

There are scammers everywhere man. Esp on Ebay! Man Ebay is a scammer pool from Hell...

Yeah my father in law ALMOST lost 6k this weekend. He found a guy selling Honda Goldwings (motocycles) who had somehow exploited a userid on Ebay (Saturday his positive feedbacks were 250+, etc.). He told my father in law that he would like a third party to hold the money (like a escrow account holder, etc.) until the bike was transfered, etc. and if my father in law approved it, etc the third party holder would transfer the money to the seller.

It looked like a legit killer deal on a 2000 Goldwing..

Well come to find out the guy wanted my father in law to wire the money via Western Union and HE (the seller) would give it directly to the escrow holder. lol That is where he blew the scam..

Needless to say my father in law backed out of the deal at the Western Union office (with the 6k cash in hand) - thank God! Come to find out when we looked up the guys Ebay feedback the next day it was only 6. We also looked up and called the third party money holder and come to find out was some friggn random realstate company out west who knew nothing about the seller!!
    hehe

Thanks fellas. I will of course not let this stop me from helping others out if its within my power to do so. I see no reason having my older hardware thrown in the closet when it can be put to good use. In fact I have recently done business with a few guys in this forum and they've been great; I will limit my online activities to this forum for sure.
