Re: nf7-s 2.0 customised romsip mods

I would just like to take this opportunity to say a BIG thankyou for making the "d26_k2r6I" cpc on bios, the performance and stability im my system has never been so good..

up to now i have been using many variations of merlins bios's as they allowed me to go from 200x12 11.3.2 cas2 to 216x11.5 11.3.2 cas2... this setting never crashed on me but was only prime95 stable for 2-4 minutes..

the latest bios i have tried was one of tictacs new ones, it got me to 225x11 11.3.3 cas2.5, again this setting never crashed on me but was only prime stable for 4 minutes.. also it didnt prove any faster than my previous settings (cpu scores were lower)

With this new bois "d26_k2r6I" i have been amazed by getting the 225x11 to 11.3.2.cas2, proved much better performance with the lower timings and i got too damn bored of waiting for an error to pop up or for the system to crash when running prime for over 2 hours last night.. something ive never been able to do...

im am currently testing 234x10.5 11.3.3.cas2.5 (lower timings/higher fsb) and its proving a little quicker in tests.. not by much tho and prime has been going for 36 minutes as i type this..

so once again i say THANKYOU VERY MUCH for the latest bios.. kinda feel like i should pay for it.. hehe :P
i will do some more recent benchies and post the new scores but for now my old ones are below for anyone who's interested..

the new settings have all been tried with 2.9v (2.95 actual vdimm, increasing it from 2.8 on the old bios's never made any difference before) 1.725v - 2.9v - 1.6v - 1.5v
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
Nf7-s v2.0 d25 merlin bios, not really sure which one now..
    Mobile 2500 Barton
    216x11.5 = 2484mhz 1.725v (1.68-1.7actual)(37 idle, 47 maxed out all nite)
    modded Coolermaster Aero cooler
    2x512mb xms3200pro 11-3-2 cas 2 (2.8v)
His Pro Ice Q x800 pro 16 pipes 531/594 (48 deg max recorded temp in atitool, 28 degs at the moment... on standard cooling) hmmm..... time for a volt modd me thinks...

a sreenie of my last benchie, always max quality settings cos thats wot i play my games at

here are some pics of my setup, it has changed slighltly as these are kinda old...(dont have my new x800 in it..had to re-route a few cables etc... but im sure u'll get the idea.)

dudeygeezer, try the cpc-off version of the same, seeing as you have 2x512mb... you might get a nice fsb jump with it. even though you get an impressive fsb with cpc-on. very nice.

    My Sandra at 11 x 215 = 3302 3114 = 94%

    I have a v1.2 with Abit BIOS 26
    with 2x256 Corsair XMS PC3200
    @ Cas 2.0 2 3 11 Dual

As you can see My timings are slower also....

Maybe flash to back to Abit BIOS to see if you get proper bandwidth ...?

    or maybe try 2 3 11 ...?

Or maybe multi 10 is lower in Bandwidth ...?
    (CPU speed determines bandwidth ..?)

    You using a 512 cache chip ?

he can, but he owns 2x512, in DC, which would top out at around 220 with cpc on.

Re: nf7-s 2.0 customised romsip mods

k2r6i feels more stable then modbios3 and 131mod4 for tRCD 2. will do further testing (benchmark, etc.) after i clear CMOS and reinstall my OS (lost some bandwith while cross flashing in the past few months.. so i need to regain it).

lets see if we can get another bios on the scene which rivals modbios3 and the elusive c18 timings

    cheers trats.

Re: nf7-s 2.0 customised romsip mods

Dang, I wish Trat could tell me how to apply the CPC patch.

I've unloaded to create the original.bin file, and also decompressed the code for Abit 26.
TicTac gave me the code to use.
But I dunno where to 'cut and paste' it.

    tictac's code

Trat, If I send you the decompress code, could identify where I need to apply it?
(I could post it on TicTac forum, I already have a thread there )

Will you help me ( 1.x users ?)

    I will recompile and distribute

Re: nf7-s 2.0 customised romsip mods

is the ocz booster back into action yet mcoleg? wonder at >3.2v, do the ram sticks run hot or not m8 ?

the "xp-m" id/name was just a name replacing "unknown cpu type" in the system bios. the stock d26 still carries "unknown cpu type" for xp-m .

perhaps some of you 2x512mb guys can help me plz:

when you get a chance, would you plz run a test or two with cpu int. off, and see how fsb oc compares? the performance loss is slight, but i don't know yet if this can be compensated by higher fsb oc. i'm testing some other new tables with slightly slower timings, so, i just wonder whether some systems would actually benefit (higher fsb oc) from romsips with slightly slower timings. thanks .

    noid1,

if i understand correctly m8, are you asking "how to put a modded system bios into the main bios"? or do you mean "how to turn cpc off in the bpl module in the main bios"?

1.x bioses use slightly different romsips, in that there's no identifier codes that preceed the raw sip tables. btw, d10 is built that way. is that any particular sip(s) that you'd like modded into 1.x bioses?

cheers pershoot you're da man m8

trats, it sure is back :P

at 3.2v the temp. leds do jump to red, whatever that means but the sinks are only like-worm to the touch if that. go figure. still, i put a fan above the dimms just in case .

i'll get to cpu int. off testing in a couple of days man. let you know .

    Hi Trats,

    Thanks for your reply !

1st. I'd like to know "how to turn cpc off in the bpl module in the main bios".
2nd. L12 mod (I think that would make alot of 1.x users happy also.)

[I have already done the L12 mod to my chips (manually), and my Mobile is already unlocked.
It wont affect my manual mods will it..?]

3rd. I'm unfamiliar with the d10 sip(s) tables. Or, which ones might be beneficial for v1.x
[maybe some of the v1.x owners can tell me. I'll need to 'read up' on the d10 ]
(or maybe those familiar with d10 could share thier best results with the sip(s), and which ones might help the 1.x series )

A version of Abits 26 with CPC OFF is my main goal.
I am also 'limited' to the 220ish barrier the 2x512 sticks have also. (2x256)
    (I'd me amazed if I could break 220 @ Cas 2.0 2 2 11)

What was the last version of the v1x BIOS you looked at trats ...?
Do you think Abit may have organized the sip(s) in the latest BIOSes?
(have you already looked at BIOS 26 ?)

Re: nf7-s 2.0 customised romsip mods

1- what's your e-mail addy m8, coz i could mail you some cpc off bpl modules.

based on the codes that tictac wrote, i've made an isa patch. be warned though: the isa patch is untested, and my programming skill is in its infancy, so, plz don't use it unless you have a bios saviour m8 .

you could use cbrom with these commands to patch:

    cbrom biosname.bin /isa 44.bin

the isa patch file is called "44.bin"

2- L12 mod: i don't know how to do this on 1.xx coz the identifier codes which are present in 2.x bioses (except d10) aren't there in the 1.xx system bios . so, only the raw tables are used (example below).

3- looked at some the latest 1.xx some time back, but i don't remember which ones right now . but i just took a peep at d27, so, you could try an ED table like this to start with. it's repeated 6x (w/o the blank line in between), so that cpu int. off = cpu int on tables:

228 @ 2-2-2, 2.9vdimm seems doable (still need to further test).

also noticed that the machine reset after a few seconds of prime, about +2-3 FSB over ram's limit at this voltage mark. that hasnt happened in a while. trats, you may want to loosen it up ever so slightly, so that doesnt happen.

will test out cpu int. off and report back
