i agree with insider, except trats mentioned that it's not an easy mod to do the romsips and cpc. instead, it would probably be easier to examine reddwarfs changes and then apply them to his own bios mods. i agree that the 2 released bioses should be identical except for cpc being on or off, because that is the biggest overclockability variable when it comes to these versions.

so in short, take 1008mod2, add all of reddwarfs mods, add the mobile athlon xp string, make your own custom version string like 1008-TX, and then make a cpc on/off version of that.

of course, i'm not demanding this, but just asking politely because trats is already rocking ass by donating his time to the cause! :-)

is there a chance that BIOS of yours will do some good on a A7N8X-X?
Currently running with a xp-m 2500+ on that board with a stock 1006 bios and cannot use any multiplier from 8,5 to 10,5.

I know from nforcershq there is a uber bios version, but I dont think thatl do the trick, will it?!

I'll be watching this thread closely and wish you all the luck with that bios;
the -x is always being left behind, it would be awesome to have a tailored, custom bios for this one;
the downside for me is, itll be some time until I can test/use it since I am writing my theses on this rig now and cannot risk a lockdown now, specially since I dont have a bios savior...

The mod3 CPC Off bios works, I'm currently testing with Prime95 at 219MHz FSB with 1GB of PC3200 ram running 6-3-3 @CAS2.

IIRC the X version of the board is just the same other than not having dual channel support so the mod and results will be pretty much identical.

i will be testing one of these new bioses once i get home, but i have a question first. after reading the changelogs from both mod2a and mod3, i was wondering what the deal is with the dfi infinity romsip tables? also, you didn't mention fixing the 10x and 10.5x multipliers in the mod3, and i assume this is just because you forgot.

10x/10.5x multis are fixed in the mod2a and mod3 bioses .

based what on ppl have experienced with dfi and abit boards, different romsips and bpl modules can give huge effects on fsb oc, performance and/or how tight one can run dimm timings .

This is a keeper !! .. everything is there ... all the menus ..all the multipliers ..and that dfi romsip mod is wonderful .. i cant thank you enough trats for doing this. The string AMD Athlon XP-M is perfect ..

This is by far the best bios i have ever seen for this mobo and ill be testing it some more for stability and such.

More results, even with a 20MHz FSB increase CPC Off mode is still slower overall compared with the CPC On mode at the same CPU clock and ram timings as expected, but it's good to see this board should be able to reach above 240MHz FSB (with faster memory modules) even without any volt mods...

Just need to find a way to change that daft 1008mod3 string to something that sounds better...

can't seem to get the fsb beyond 220mhz stable, even with 1008mod3 cpc off. i can now get into windows at 225, but prime95 fails. perhaps i should try the 1008mod2a with cpc off, but i dunno if the dfi infinity romsip is causing the problem or not. it could just be other devices in the system that are causing the problem.

edit: tried the 1008mod2a cpc off, but the bandwidth efficiency of the ram went WAY down. it was around 93% with 1008mod3, and now it's at like 85% and still unstable at 225mhz fsb. i think i'm pretty much screwed when it comes to anything higher than 220.

i'm gonna go for the 1008mod3 with cpc on and the settings i was at before. this is definitely the best bios by far!! thank you trats!

im assuming "Crucial 3200LLPT TWINX" is a typo in your sig and you mean Corsair.

drop your tRAS to 6 for your corsair PCB.

keep timings 2-3-2 (looser is not necessarily better for this PCB and higher fsb).
