    3200 posts at 1100??

I bought a new 3200xp and shuttle an35n-Ultra MB, and pair of pc3200 512 ram.

I finally got it to post, but the bios only read the chip at 1100?? It read the full gig of ram. Is this normal? I'm thinking maybe it did this because I haven't installed the MB drivers.

Or, i did notice the cpu has a little chip in it. Could this cause a cpu to post a lot slower? like at 1100 instead of 3200? Or should i not worry about it b/c the chip will not run that much slower?

First off, a 3200+ runs at 2.2, or 2200, not 3200. And it sounds like your fsb is defaulting to 100 instead of 200. Check your mb manual for jumpers, or if none, then set it properly in the bios.

You could have a fsb jumper on that board thats not set properly which could cause it.

Ok, I'll check the bios when i get home. but, i thought it was supposed to be set at auto. i also just cleared the CMOS and took out the battery before trying to post again. it read my FSB at 400mhz.

have you ever heard of a chipped core causing this? this is my second oem cpu and i guess i'm just paranoid since it took me five tries to get it to post.

I heard of that board but have no idea if it has a fsb jumper. I mean actuall physical jumper on the mother board that you might have to take the jumper and move it to differant pin. My biostar M7NCD pro has to have the little jumper moved when I move it to 200fsb if I don't it crashes.

About chipped core first find out if that board has something you have to adjust then if you still have problems then only way to find out is to pop that hs off and check. I reccomend doing some searching in the Shuttle motherboard forum or haveing this thread moved there they can tell you right away.

I get this all the time, just hit the DEL key when you boot up, then set your FSB to 200, resset all other settings.

    Should work great.

what do you mean by "reset all other settings"? i cleared CMOS so nothing else should need changing, right?

i changed the fsb in my bios and it works perfectly now. now i just have to download all the damn updates to windows.

question: i left my games on another physical drive and am not going to format it. i can play the games, but they are not registered as "programs" How do i get them on the start menu and to show up as programs without reinstalling them???
