    This is not in dispute.
What the deal here is that it is illegal to break anti-copy protection measures installed on any media.
I have copies of every thread/post I've struck down. They all deal with evading the anti-copy protection measures which is illegal. Even the posts that Kami made.
    What is not to understand?
I wasn't aware that the forum rules were negotiable.
Oh, wait. They're not. This forum will not become the haven of people seeking to learn the tao of copy.
I've said this before and I'll say it one more time. You can either obey the rules or you can leave. This goes for Kami, or anybody lurking that I don't even know the name of.
So in turn your saying I can make a backup copy of a game or music CDs but if in making a copy I bypass the "anti-copy protection measures" installed on the CDs then I'm breaking the law.

So then really I can't make a copy because I'd be breaking the law. Even thought the first law said I can make a copy.

So in the end its almost always illegal because now days almost every thing out there has "anti-copy protection measures". Gees what a mess

Thank you for the contributions , server wise and knowledge wise to this forum Kami .

We intend to try to clarify this as much as possible , as soon as possible . There is no easy solution . It boils down to trying to be helpful without putting the site in a undesirable legal position , I know I know , nobody likes the word legal , myself especially , but it is 2004 , and these things are a concern nowadays , whether we like it or not .

    Thanks for everything Kami!
but to probably add fuel to fire (I have no idea why discussion on cd-clone or alchohol would not be permited)

    I have this link: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=355194

they talk about (from a mod no less) defeating the copy protection of DVD's. go figure

Ahhh....but grimmster that link doesn't exist, and is perfectly exceptable, i'm the one that is nuts for even bringing it up. They still fail to acknowledge that not all games are protected. I've been threatened more than once by pm, "drop it or else" type of stuff, but that's ok, they can do whatever they wan't because they say so and that is part of the forum rules. One post I made was deleted out of this thread anyway. Therer is a big difference in telling someone to try alcohol and how to use it or what settings to use. They closed that thread but left the links, good huh?

Thats all water under the bridge, whats more important, 3 weeks ago my uncle died, two weeks ago my aunt went to the hospital thinking she had pnuemonia only to find out she had cancer, one week ago they sent her home to die peacefully and a day ago she died, my cousin is having a tough go of it, they hadn't even gotten my uncles affairs done and now she has to do both, just a little overwhelming for her, she is the oldest of the kids in the clan and I am second in line, I am going to go to california, Long Beach to be exact, stay with my uncle on my mothers side (my parents are divorced) she says she is doing ok, but I am going to drive down anyway and then call her and offer to help out, tell her I just happen to be in the area, that way she won't feel bad about asking, she has always been too independant.
