nf7s, agp latency, vagp, safe to up them?

well i have this little problem, i can prime all day at 236 , but 3d will crash untill i lower it 232.
this is all done with 11,2,2,2 timings, loosining the timings doesnt make it any more stable. the ram is 2/256 ch-5 and 9800pro , i remember reading that someone with problems like mine solved them by uppin vagp to 1.8 and agp latency to 80, but i cant find that thread anywhere i was about to start playing around with those settints this morning , but i chickend out dont want to fry or kill anything. so i was just wondering if its safe to raise vagp , agp latency ,or if anyone has tryed it with or without gain
btw my ram is @3.2 volts and more doesnt seem to help
any response or input would be great thx

Re: nf7s, agp latency, vagp, safe to up them?

I run my Vagp @ 1.8V and I run 80Mhz agp bus. Also, you might want to try timings at 11,2,3,2.0 since the "3" Trp helps with transitions between CPU access to memory and AGP card access to memory.

On latency's, in ABit land you need to use WPCRSET program to force them, as the defaults are 32 and 32. I use AGP controler latency of 96 by setting BUS0, DEV30, FUNC0, offset 0D to "60"hex...aka 96.

    I set AGP bus latency to 255 by setting BUS2, DEV0, FUNC0, offset 0D to "FF"hex.

    I also set the Alpha memory timings to... 1,1,4,3,2,4,3. This is done at BUS0, DEV0, FUNC1 offset 94 = "3x" (look at default with WCPREDIT to find out what x should be), offset 95 = "24", offset 96 = "43", offset 97 = "11"

    Hope that helps.

alrite so it looks safe to run vagp and latency that high, ill be playin with that pretty soon. as for that wpcrset program , i am lost have no clue what all those numbers mean never the less ima start to read and google ,and then hopefully the second half of your post will make sense and il be back with good news
    thx

the WPCRSET and WPCREDIT programs let YOU alter settings insid ethe northbridge chip, to values more in line with what YOU need rather than what the bios "default" value was. It runs as a driver under windows and changes the settings during boot.

Point being SOME settings it cannot change ever, like CPC. And some settings you NEED set in the bio to boot at all ...well it wont do any good since you must boot to run it to make the changes
