I guess I can stop using google so much and just ask questions here everyday

Trying to get my multimedia keys working right now. KDE 3.4, Logitech Elite, Debian. Found some good posts but once again I think I'm missing the key ingredient.

I see Spanky didn't waste much time on that one

Fedora Core 4 Final comes out in a week or two (6th June) so things may pick up then. Fedoraforums is now the official forums for it, and boy has that place taken off. I see a few from here are active there too (Warren, markkuk); they have a LOT of folks seeking help!

I'm trying to work out an upgrade stategy from FC2 (never done an upgrade before). I made separate /home and /var partitions, plus one for /shares. I'm hoping I will be able to format my partitions but keep /home (and /shares) intact and the new install will keep all my settings and docs in /home. Any advice on this would be appreciated

I'm simple. A Molson Canadian will do me just fine.

As for your keyboard issues, there are several different solutions that may work. I did a quick search on our forums and found this project: http://lineak.sourceforge.net/

I'm more of a fan of hotkeys, lineak never worked for me for whatever reason.

Yep, thanks for those links. I got to messin around with it for a while in pclinux, but I had some other "issues" on my Debian partition that became kinda outta hand. Let's just say that I'm installing ubuntu64 as I type.

Oh well that's why I have that partition set up. So I can learn, test, and break things on it.

Huh, I just updated to the latest ShockwaveFlash and it fixed the timing issue I was having.

I think I was using version 6.??? and everything would play slowly. It was great for those games that just keep getting faster and faster. You wouldn't believe how many high scores I demolished with it!

Now at least I can watch stuff as they are supost to be.

    Re: The Penguin Bar

I got home late last night to find we had a big power outage at home that shut down all my home computers. Worst of all it killed our internet connection.

I'll have to have a look. But the router probably just needs to be reset.

I had a couple of power surges last night, that got annoying.
I ran fsck just to be safe.

    Re: The Penguin Bar

I'll have a look at that. All of my computers except one would have recieved a signal from my UPS to shut down. I was surprised that one of them didn't turn back on when the power came back. I should check the BIOS cause it's probably a setting in there.

I want to hunt down some logs to see what all happened. My UPS reported a 12 hour power loss. It would be nice to know if it was out for that long before I drink that milk in the fridge.

    Whooooooo-Hooooooooo!!!!

After about 7,000 failed attempts I finally have 3d rendering with my 9800pro under Debian. It was just a matter of finding the right guide and method. That and a whole lot o' "linux learnin'"
