    Question Whats up with Thermalright??? venting

    my first thermalright was an ax7 which i was very impressed with......shortly thereafter it disappeared from the market.....

    used several slk800, 900a, 900u and most recently an sp-97; all of which were consecutively better......well, time to build a few more pc's but no sp-97??? i understand that it will (may?) be obsolete? wow, what a short life, even in the pc component business. it seems that thermalright product obsolescence is faster than chip technology.........

    can anyone explain why the slk947u compatibility shows amd barton 2800 and up....i know it can be used on mobile bartons 2400, 2500 and 2600....same with the soon to be released si97

    You have to understand, Thermalright doensn't doesn't just sit on the laurels. They have to strive to improve their products to stay ahead of the competitors in order to provide ever better products to their consumers. Their product likes are ever evolving. That is a good thing in my book.

    believe me, i understand marketing...i own two successful businesses and deal in the international market. staying ahead of competition demands r&d but not at the expense of lost sales due to lack of inventory. thermalright currently has NO heatpipe line for socket a motherboards.

    also, the site specifically lists adaptation to processors, "AMD: Athlon XP Palamino, Thoroughbred, and Barton 2800+ and up;
    Intel: Pentium-4 socket-478 3.06 GHz and above" motherboard compatibility is another issue.....

    SP97? also, thermalright DOESNT really need a whole batch of heatpiped HS for SockA! some of their stuff are so good it beats other companies' HS with heatpipes. And it saves TR and US money!

    It is frustrating T.right discontinues older products. The Sk-7
    would still sell really well. Then again the price dropped so much
    it was probably hard to make a decent profit.

    Directron still has the SK-7 for $30. I liked it better when it was $15 at SVC.

    My ThermalRights : CB-6L , AX-7 , SLK-7 , SLK-900A and most recently the ALX-800 , I really like the ALX-800 , not so big or expensive but great cooling depending on fan used .

    TBH
    Thermalright ony need one batch and thats of the oldest HS they have judging by the performance no improvment is needed.

    Maybe like FLH said its the MB not the CPU or also maybe there just advertised as 2800+ as they are top end heatsinks, and lists high Heat producing cpus?
