    Logitech Z-2200

Ordered this set from Amazon.com today for $102, then there's a $50 rebate going on as well. I basically got them because they seem to be a decent build for about $50. I'll be using them for music, gaming, and movies, but don't care about 5.1/7.1. Does anyone here have personal experience with them? How do they sound?

    Re: Logitech Z-2200

Well, the Z-2200s came in yesterday and have been listening to them quite a bit. Personally, I think they sound really good all around. Observations:

    Pros

    - Decent build quality. Solid, relatively heavy casings. I like the way the wires are set up too; makes for cleaner (read: non-spaghetti) wire runs.

    - Plenty of power for PC or personal use. I don't think I'd use them for watching movies with the family though.

    - I really like the normal power cord. No unsightly space robbing "wall wart" PS units. Although not too many wall warts could supply 300+ watts of power...

    - The large exposed HS is nice too. Doesn't get too hot after playing at a decent volume for a while; even under my desk.

    Cons

    - The satellites seem to have a midbass dip which makes the highs sound a bit bright. Of course these are pretty small mid drivers. This could be EQ'd out somewhat I'm sure.

    - The sub doesn't produce much output below ~35Hz (just like the box says), but that is to be expected given it's only an 8" driver with 120W in a ported box that seems to be tuned to about 40Hz. Could be a subsonic filter circuit too.

    - Reading the manual states power ratings RMS at 10% THD. Probably not audible depending on program material, but I would rather have seen rms ratings at .1% or 1% THD.

Anyway, not bad for $50 (provided I actually get the rebate check).
