linksys befsr-41 release,renew not working?

im on win2k and went into router config>status page

on that page i can usually do a release(all zeroz,then renew ip adress,etc.

I cant do that.i click release and it doesnt do so.I have cleared router and modem and started fresh.shouldnt this be working?thx?

ok.now it is working,i tried it like 4 times and it wouldnt budge..?

Yeah, has happened to me before on a very similar router (BEFSX41). I think it is the crappy onbard RAM and processing features (i.e. firmware)

It most likely is the firmware and not the hardware, try updating the firmware.

thx,but it looks linksys hasnt had a new firmware out for a bit.already latest one onboard.is ver2 different than ver3 by much?Ive had both but the first one died in a couple years after a firmware upgrade.

this one doesnt easily see the network after a fresh install and can be a hassle having to reset the router and lose my settings after each time.(alot for me,heh)

Which firmware version are you using as the latest one is dated Firmware Date : 8/30/2004?

i just cheecked again and that shows latest version at u.s. site dated 4/1/04..hmm have a link?

well,i checked further and i am back to what i found.mine is ver3 tho i only briefly mentioned that and i am wondering what the differences are and if its safe to do so...-

There are differences between the model versions and there not compatable.
