    It is only a desire to keep civilian casualties low that prevents them from turning insurgents into dust. Even at that, they are winning, it is just slower.

    1984 Reagan 58.8
    1988 Bush 53.4
    1992 Clinton 42.9
    1996 Clinton 49.2
    2000 Bush 47.9


    If the % of popular vote is the evidence of this divided nation assertion? Point to the years where we were truly divided. Now explain how this is something new.

    That just it. It the same thing, perceived as a problem, with each generation. It only makes the division more apparent yet continues not to affect any one on a daily basis.
