OOOOWWW...this even made MY butt hurt!!! (painful story)

so i was talking to my next door neighbor today, and he was fiddling with something under his shirt,...and he saw taht i noticed, he said that he had a colostomy bag. He is a totally healthy guy...about 40-50 years old..so i was like..gosh..are you ok? and he said that back in July, he had been working on a truck or something..he was up off the ground, i guess in the bed of the truck, im not sure...i didnt quite get that part of the story. but what i did hear, was that he fell off of whatever he was on, and landed on a motorcycle trailor, ...the part where the spare tire goes, has an 8 inch threaded bolt sticking up. yea you see where this is going..

he falls squarely on the bolt, it tears through his jeans, and underwear, and rips through his colon, and ruptures his bladder.

i about fainted upon hearing that. I was like..oh my GOD are you ok now? he doesnt have medical insurance, and he is now 38 grand in debt bc of this incident. He does work though, construction i believe. So anyway, he said it happened on a monday, and he didnt go to the hospital until WENDESDAY. but they said he was fine and sent him home. (Charity hospital in New Orleans.. not exactly a great place ) So he goes home, and he said by the next SUNDAY, he was peeing blood...as red as the shirt i was wearing so he went in with a urine sample and they finally saw him... did x rays and what not...turned out the RUSTY 8 inch bolt RIPPED the colon wall, and basically "popped" his bladder like a water balloon. amazingly he didnt have an infection. They gave him tetnis shots and all kinds of stuff...he is still awaiting a second surgery. dunno what they did to him on the first one. But DANG that has to be SO freakin painful. its just F'd up. Can you even IMAGINE????? 8 inches of threaded rusty steel up your @$$????

I spent a night in Charity Hospital back in 1981 , my buddy and I had ridden a Yamaha 600 down to New Orleans to go to the football game between Ole Miss and Tulane , we were staying at a frat house at Tulane . Well my buddy got drunk and decided to take the bike around the block one time and show off , he wasnt aware the street turned to gravel halfway around a corner , so we ended being in that hospital all night waiting for him to get 10 stiches in his chin , every time the ER settled down enough for them to work on him somebody would come in all messed up and we would have wait again . This one couple came in still argueing , he had stabbed her after she shot him

hehe... seen some very interesting (and painful!) cases in my line of work. the one that took the cake was the case of two guys fooling around with an industrial air pump... one idiot pressed the end of the pump against the other guy's pants (or so their story goes) and released the valve... this thing was so powerful that the victim had his colon inflated and ruptured by the blast of air!
another one that i heard of (didn't see this personally) was a motorcyclist who got thrown off his bike, and the fuel cap on the tank flipped up in the crash... and did some serious damage to the rider's private bits.

I was in the ER here at University Hospital last week and there was some crazy woman wearing her night gown and a crash helmet singing and saying she was Jesus' wife and all kinds of F'ed up stuff.......ain't no place like a downtown ER!!
