    Help Installing Serial Drive

Hi All: I just received my barebones from Monarch Computer Systems. I have an Asus AV8 Deluxe MB (VIA K8T800 Pro) I have one Seagate Serial ATA HD. Looking @ the Asus docs, there isn't much help in regards to installing ONE HD.

Here's what I have done so far.

    1. D/L the latest serial driver from VIA. To use on my F6 install command.
    2. Installed my HD inside my case.
    3. Plugged the Serial Cable from my HD to "SATA1" on the Asus MB. BTW...I have 4 Serial connections on my Asus MB. SATA 1 & 2. Below say's RAID 1 & 2.
    4. Plugged the SATA power adaptor to the HD itself from my Enermax PS.

Which should I do next? I can't claim it as RAID 0 or RAID 1 because I would need 2 HD's. Correct? My only other option is JBOD? How should I claim the HD as?

Eveything is pretty easy to install...Floppy, CD-RW, Turtle Beach SC etc. The HD is were I simply don't really know what I'm doing. I have always had IDE HD's in the past.

Could anyone point me in the right direction for this nobb?

    Thank You.

    Re: Help Installing Serial Drive

I have no direct hands on experience with this situation, however, I have read that many folks have defined the single drive as a raid array. It just functions as a single drive from that point apparently. Put it this way.. while I cant give you very good specific instructions, I can tell you that it will work the way you wish, you will probably just have to wait a bit longer for someone here to answer with more detailed instructions
