Re: Dear LydiAtSoltek TW our resident rep.

    lydia,

thanks for your presence here on the best amd forum!

A while back (2wks, I believe) you sent a beta bios. I tried opening it and received an error. I asked that you send it again, which you did quickly. But I had the same problem trying to open it. First my antivirus went crazy and warned me to not open it and to delete it. I don't recall the error cold, as I'm relying on memory.

Do I need a special program to open it? My standard winzip and winrar don't seem to work.

Thanks for your great customer service

Thumbs up Like to thank Soltek

Id just like to thank Soltek for sending me the capacitors i needed for my FRN2 board.
I purchased a replacement board, but its not as fast as my good old Soltek FRN2, at stock speeds. Just incase your wondering, i tryed to get another FRN2 ...but my fave store was out of them at the time, and had a 2 to 3 week backorder on them. So i ordered an Abit NF7-S instead, that is 300 3DMarks slower than the Soltek at stock! Anyway Thanks Soltek... keep up the good work

    Lydia:

I was hoping you could help with a capacitor leaking problem. I emailed jessica several days ago with specifics and haven't received a response. Anything you could do would be appreciated.

Your participation in this forum speaks well for Soltek. Thank you.

    Hi Bubbalou32,
Maybe something is wrong with Jessica's mail box.
Does the capacitor leaking problem happen to SL-75FRN2-R(L)?
You can just email me at lydia@soltek.com.tw with your address, tel., and M/B model. Then I can pass it on to Jesscia.

    Thanks and regards,

That is great news. I'd really love to see a 939/Nforce with the same features as my SL75FRN2-RL, with PCI Express. I can't wait. Thanks for the news, and please keep us posted.

Re: Dear LydiAtSoltek TW our resident rep.

Here's another suggestion to add PCI latency options on the K8TPro. I spent a few days trying to figure out why Far Cry was so jittery. It would play fine for a few minutes and then get worse, especially after reloading save points. I tried all sorts of tweaks to fix it but nothing worked until I came across mention of changing the video card's PCI latency to a lower value. I downloaded the tool and set it from my eVGA 6800GT's default of 248 to 64 and, lo and behold, that absolutely cleared up the problem. Far Cry runs smooth now. The tool is great, but it'd be nice to have it in the BIOs.

You can download the program here:

    UPDATE:

Hmm... maybe settings in BIOs won't help as much as the program does. According to some guy named Phil, "You see, regardless of what the default value is for PCI latency, your system devices are free to ignore it completely. Yes, that's right, folks: it doesn't matter how you configure PCI latency in the BIOS. Your system devices can set their own values anyway." Lydia,

I believe I will be buying the Soltek SL-K890Pro-939 once it's available, I just hope to read one review first. If you know anything about that (if Soltek sent the board to any review site already) please let me know.

The real question I wanted to ask is - is there an official suggested price for it yet?

    Hi Thebluesgnr,
At present, there is no review about SL-K890Pro-939 in forums. However, there should be one or more soon. You can check our homepage as follows regularly for these reviews.

lydia, does it matter which slot I use for my single stick of ram. I have a 75frnl. When i put the single stick in the dual channel master, i get all kinds of errors during memtest. When I use any other stot, it runs fine. Im asking because I will do a dual channel setup in the future, and want to make sure my slot is okay, before the warantee or something runs out. Thank you

If thats really an FRN-L and not an FRN2-L your warrantee is most likely already up. Sounds odd that you'd get errors in one slot and not another with the same stick of RAM. Have you tryed upping the Vdimm? What kind of memory are you useing? Whats its speed rateing etc?

Re: Dear LydiAtSoltek TW our resident rep.

oops, sorry. It is the 2L. I bought it a month ago. Im using mushkin blue line. 2•3•3•6 timing. with vdimm at default speeds. I thought it was strange that I only got errors in one slot also. So im assuming it shouldnt matter which slot I leave it in right? With the one stick in the master slot, i couldn't run prime95 for more than 5 minutes without getting an error, or memtest for 10 minutes without at least 3-4 errors. But since I've switched slots, I've gone an hour with memtest without any errors before i got bored and stopped the test. And I've run prime95 all night without any problems.
