    SL-K8AN2E-GR No signal to monitor

    Dear Lydia,
    I will try to be as brief as possible with this.

    Problem = No signal to monitor when using an AGP video card but works fine with a PCI video card.

    System = All new parts in an Atec case
    PSU = Antec SL350 (350W)
    MOBO = SL-K8AN2E-GR
    CPU = AMD Athlon 64 2800+
    RAM = Corsair Value Select 512MB DDR400 (single)
    Graphincs Card = eVGA GeForce 5200 light 128MB
    HDD = Hitachi EIDE 80GB 7200RPM
    CD/DVD = I/OMagic DVD RW / CD RW
    Floppy = Hitachi

    Trobleshooting accomplished:
    • Cleared CMOS.

    • Moved RAM to DIMM 2 slot.

    • Disconnected all connectors and power leads except for the MOB (2ea), PWR Switch and PWR LED.

    • Removed AGP card and Installed a PCI video card it booted up and I went into the BIOS checked "Init Display First" and it is set to AGP.

    • Cleaned AGP slot.

    • Disabled SATA and RAID in BIOS

    • Fast write Disabled

    • Sideband disabled

    Everything is working with the PCI card and I went on with WIN XP Pro SP2 installation with no glitches except the thing will not boot up with NUMLOCK on even though it is set up to do so in the BIOS.
    I am thinking that there may be a BIOS setting that I am over looking. But right now I have an RMA number and will be sending the MOBO back for replacement if I cannot resolve this in the next day or so.

    Respectfully,
    Duane

    Lydia,
    Sorry I left that part out. I put the new card in my daily machine and it works fine. I put the one from my daily (eVGA Geforce 5600 Ultra 256MB) on the Soltek and it didn't work on that board.

    Hi Nsdqdu,
    It seems that something is wrong with the M/B and you may need to RMA it. Sorry!

    Momuchi,
    The long beeps may indicate the RAM problems.
    Please reinstall the RAM and test it on different DIMM slots to see if that works.
    If you have other memory modules, please give them a shot on the M/B.

    Thanks and regards,

    Re: Dear LydiAtSoltek TW our resident rep.

    Lydi,
    My only question I have about my Soltek K8T800pro 939 mobo is that I get frequent LAN disconnects using the onboard lan but a PCI card will not. I know the LAN controller is good I'm guessing its either software/bios etc issue. I have re-installed the drivers to no avail. The onbaord LAN works fine in windows XP pro 64 bit but not win XP 32, any ideas? I know on some biostar mobos a bios update fixed the issue.

    Hi AMDMaddness,
    Actually we have not heard of this issue before.
    Have you tried the latest driver (version 22) for VIA 6122 Gigabit LAN controller? If not yet, could you please give it a shot?
    You can download it from the link below:

    I have tried that one as well. Im just cruising along on an old PCI 10/100. The onboard kind of hicups for a second just enough to knock Yahoo messenger offline. i dont really notice it browsing only a hung page load here and there but yahoo drives me crazy sign in then out constantly. Thanks BTW

    Re: Dear LydiAtSoltek TW our resident rep.

    Peter, I've had similar problems with my onboard LAN on a SL-75FRN-L. Whenever a peer-to-peer application would load, Windows reports the LAN cable is unplugged and the LAN indicator lights on the board go out.

    In my experience, a simple un-plugging and re-plugging of the LAN cable will fix the problem. I very rarely have a need to use peer-to-peer applications so this was not a burden for me.

    I have never used a P2P program. This has happened for all 4 reinstalls... maybe I just have a bum onboard controller.

    Hi AMDMaddness,
    I have contacted VIA FAE and hare's the reply from them:

    "1.add-on LAN card was fine but that wasn't
    belong to ours,right?(i mean that he
    may use other vendor's LAN card)
    2.which kind of his network topology?please
    distribute it in detail.(connect to internet?or just
    for local area network?any switch,HUB?)
    3.did the connection icon (under the WINXP )show the red-cross symbol
    over itself when he met disconnection?
    4.what kind of situation will bring disconnection to him?(idle?heavy loading?
    or running online game?...etc)
    5.how long will occur this issue?
    6.what are the version of LAN drivers which be used under WINXP 64bit at his side?"

    Could you please provide me with the detials required above? Then we can check it further.

    Thanks and regards,

    1. My LAN card works fine its a realtek RTL8139 PCI 10/100.

    2. I run to an 8 port switch which shares my DIRECWAY satelite internet to all of my PC's none of them have any issues w/ the lan such as mine ( I have tried other ports and new cables).

    3. I never get a red X on the LAN connection icon.

    4. Any situation will cause it but no to light browsing it happens more, under heavy load it will stay working such as downloading a driver file 20mb+ etc.

    5. This issue only started when I got this motherboard. It never really dies it just hicups the connection where Yahoo messenger will disconnect or a page will hang on loading. It happens 20-30 times a day no set pattern or reason.

    6. Windows 64 driver side I used the windows default driver (I no longer have win64 installed so I can't tell you the exact version number) I use the most current from VIA on win32 as well ver 1.34.0.92
