I take it that my stock BIOS will not natively identify my XP-M 2400+ on my8RDA6+ Pro without this BIOS?

It will at post of 6x100 (default without L12 mod). I haven't tested any type of other low speed settings. At 12x213 it posts as "unknown cpu type" and beyond that the last "e" is gone. With the Merlins cpc on Bios it reads amd mobile xp-m at any speed a threw at it.

quick question... I don't believe I have updated by floppy in a couple of years and I don't have a clue about a .rar file ... Do I need to format and make it "bootable" floppy, then download "Award Flash" somewhere?

(Got my Epox together..... waiting on courage for first boot!)

Do a search for WinRAR or a similar RAR file utility. You can download an evaluation copy of WinRAR and use it for 40 days.

After flashing and updating my BIOS I had to boot with the Insert key held down. That allowed the board to boot at default values, then set the BIOS to whatever you need. That process worked for me wthout issue although it was a little unpleasant when it failed to boot the first time.

It seems if you want the whole flashing progress to be flawless you have to flash using a fully competent dos bootable floppy disk with awdflash.exe and your bios file. Then run awdflash like this:
    awdflash.exe <biosfilename> /py /sn /cc /cd /cp /QI /F /R

I did this and several others too with no real problems. With "real" i mean there's a new "feature" with this bios Some users report post fail when doing a cold reboot. The solution is simple, powerdown the system and switch off or pull the power cable. After 10 seconds put it back on and press the power button. Works for me every time. Look at it as a security feature

I used the 8.33 Award flash from the EPoX global site to flash the Merlin Bios... It did not let me use the command line...just put filename in box hit enter and zipzoomfloppy it was done! Now at a easy 12x200!

So Panda used the AwdFlash utility (8.33) from the EPoX site, and what AwdFlash utility are the others using?

Re: 8RDA6+ PRO / 8RDA3+ PRO New Bios Mod by -=Merlin=-

Well I did run into the 'Cold Boot' problem.... where it would 'hang'.... my psu has a on/off switch, so I turned it off, hit the front panel power button several time.. (pushed not really 'Hit', It depletes the risidual power in the PSU), turned the PSU switch back on, held the insert key on the keyboard down and pushed the front power button....it booted right up! .....

I used the CPC on BIOS by the way.

Question Re: 8RDA6+ PRO / 8RDA3+ PRO New Bios Mod by -=Merlin=-

Am I being stupid or are the 'CPC on' and 'CPC off' BIOSes actually the same file?

    Code:
    C:\8rda6pro>fc 8RDA6+_PRO_TaiPan_0.1_E4_ED_Bpl_3.19C_18.01.05-2\*.bin 8RDA6+_PRO_TaiPan_0.1_E4_ED_Bpl_3.19_17.01.05-1\*.bin
    Comparing files 8RDA6+_PRO_TAIPAN_0.1_E4_ED_BPL_3.19C_18.01.05-2\8RDA6PRO.BIN and 8RDA6+_PRO_TAIPAN_0.1_E4_ED_BPL_3.19_17.01.05-1\8RDA6PRO.BIN
    FC: no differences encountered
