Lightbulb USB power issues with OCing

Just thought id try to pick everyone's brains
I cannot break the 1.3Ghz barrier with my cpu
My system is rock stable, with decently low temps > 1.3Ghz. The problem is that my Alcatel USB ADSL modem just completely goes dead after a few minutes, and goes dead even quicker if i start to download a large file.
The USB modem draws 500mA - right at the top end of the spec for USB.
High wattage PSUs dont make any difference, and playing with voltages on the mobo does diddley too. I've isolated the modem by using a powered hub, but nothing makes any difference
I'm running the latest drivers (VIA 4in1 and modem)

Anyone got any ideas, or am i doomed to stay <1.3Ghz if i want my connection?

    Cheers

    Cool

If you are using Windows 98 have you loaded the USB patch?

It's just USB, There's no RJ45 connection to use with that modem?

I had exactly the same problem. And spent weeks trying to solve it (to no avail, I really tried EVERYTHING)

Here is your one and only solution : plug it into a PCI-USB card.

    I did it.

    Now it works great.

    cya.
