Potential for new low-ping dedicated server

OK guys, I was looking around at what my ISP provides (Earthlink). It seems they've introduced dedicated game servers.....

Story is $10/mth. I may be willing to shell out $10/mth from my own pocket if we think it's worth it. But I can get it with a month's free trial. It's not something I'm going to be doing immediately 'cos with the littlun on the way I won't have time to partake myself (call me selfish ).

Games they provide: CoD, JK2, JK:JA, SOF2 and UT2004 only

I'm figuring UT2K4 'cos that always seems to get the best response around here. Depending on how hard it is to get them to swap over to other games, maybe we can try others too.

Input? Thoughts? Waste of money? Worth a free month's trial?

You must pick one game to run 24/7?

I think it's worth a month trial. I'd be interested to see how low the pings are especially for those of us on the east coast.

Sounds like a good deal - a low ping dedicated UT2K4 server would certainly be appreciated. What kind of speeds are they advertising with it?

didn't say anything about speeds, hence we need 30 day trial

Actually, I think anyone may be able to get a free trial..... can someone else look too? http://www.earthlinkultimategaming.com

OK, nm - I totally misread it. they don't rent servers for private use They just have a bunch of servers available

This idea isn't going away though. Kami showed me something a while back that might be what Jim was thinking he found.

    I'm looking into it.

it would be sweet to have a nice ut2k4 dedicated server, but that would just be more money for someone to pay

    Trust me, I do science
