    Replace laptop HDD HP ze4420

I am having problems getting a new toshiba hdd working in an hp ze4420us laptop. I tried using an adapter to an IDE interface to see if it would register in a desktop and it didnt appear as though it was spinning up but then again, the adapter may be junk.... I was wondering if I will possibly need to update the bios to be able to ID this drive? Any help would be appreciated...

There is a bios flash utility for your model listed available on HP's website, but I couldn't actually see a bios update anywhere.

Have you tried contacting HP's support?
