Bank Negara Indonesia Adopts More Than 10,000 Intel-Based PCs Across 800 Branches Nationwide
JAKARTA, Indonesia, Feb. 7, 2005 – To deliver better customer service across its 800 branches nationwide and offer new integrated banking services in future, Indonesia’s oldest state-owned bank, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), is upgrading its computing infrastructure with more than 10,000 Intel-based PCs. More than 12,000 employees will use the new high-performance Intel® Pentium® 4 processor with Hyper-Threading Technology and Intel® 915G chipset-based PCs to serve tens of thousand of customers each day.
Part of BNI’s ICONS (Integrated and Centralized On line System) program, the bank’s technology upgrade aims to standardize its client deployment and minimize the complexity and cost of managing its PC fleet via the Intel® Stable Image Platform Program (Intel® SIPP).
Intel SIPP enables increased software image stability for PC platforms, improving the management, deployment and maintenance of PC fleets for IT managers. The Intel SIPP enables BNI to minimize the number of platform configurations within its installed base, reduce the total cost of ownership of its PC fleet, and reduce IT maintenance time spent on qualifying and deploying software applications and security patches.
BNI was searching for a platform enabling a more predictable, manageable transition from one generation of PC technology to the next. We want the assurance that newly deployed PCs can have the same software and platform as other PCs that are deployed within the same 12-month period,” said Gumirlang S. Indroyono, general manager, Information Technology Division, Bank Negara Indonesia PT.
“Investing in high-performance Intel-based PCs supported by Intel’s Stable Image Platform program will enable BNI to maximize both the near- and long-term value of its investment,” said Budi Wahyu Jati, country manager, Intel Indonesia. “The bank’s foresight in assessing future needs as well as those it has today demonstrates its commitment to its long-term competitiveness and sustainability.”
