    pc2700 overclocking limits

    hi all i am trying to find out what fsb speed you can get out of pc2700 ram my ram is made by a comapny called spectek so its not high end gear.

    i am just wondering how fast any 1 else has got mid end ram so i know what to work around

    You can't get FSB speed out of RAM because the FSB is the CPU bus. Thank you for using the correct abbreviations.

    PC2700 RAM is meant to be run at 166 MHz. That's what's guaranteed, going beyond that is always going to be luck of draw. Someone else's experience with their particular DIMM is going to be completely unlike yours.

    Just keeping the focus on reality. Overclocking results are always going to differ wildly, depending on each individual setup - because you're going into headroom that the manufacturer didn't grant its individual unit.

    Look at it this way: If product ABC were - always and for everyone - capable of X percent more speed, it would have been sold as such.
