HELP!!! WD HDD will not show up in windows

Hey guys I need serious help here. I just installed a new system with two 36 gig WD SATA HDD's in a RAID setup.

HOWEVER, the problem exists on a seperate IDE WD drive that I installed AFTER installing windows. This 200 gig (I already know what your thinking) drive can be seen in the BIOS AND in the Device manager, but cannot be seen within Windows itself under My Computer. I remember having this problem once before but cannot remember how I fixed it.

If someone could shed some light on how I can solve this issue that would be great

Is this a new drive that does not contain a File System? If so, right click "My Computer" down to Manage look in the Storage section. The Drive should show as unallocated space in Disk Management, be sure to create a basic disk.

If it shows up in device manager you'll just need to access the control panel and choose administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management...
You will then probably see the drive as unallocated space as said before. Then format, partion, etc as you want it. So basically as said before, your drive is not formatted therefore there is no filesystem windows can access. You will need to format it

Well those explanations sound comepletely reasonable and simple. Allow me to throw in a twist......

This hard drive was out of a previous system and contains over 80 Gigs of data from a back-up.

Ok guys, let's see if we can answer THAT one......

Look in Disk Management and tell us how the Drive is listed.

What is your OS and what was the OS the Drive came from?

Could be you need to import a foreign disk.

Well that's not good, that means that the drive does not have a File system.

Did you have the drive attached when you installed the OS?

Well there are some programs that can recover the Data that are very successful.

One that members have luck with is called

    GetDataBack

The Partition Recovery could be something to try yes. Try the Demo\Trial and see what it says.

I just had this exact same problem. The fix in my situation was to assign a drive letter manually. After it got it's letter, it was happy again, and all my fles were as they should be. I hope your problem is so simple.

In disk management, He said it showed in device manager, so it should show in disk management. It will not however, show up in my computer, until it is assigned a drive letter. I believe he got it fixed, so this would just be for others with the same problem. I am curious what the fix was.
