Hello,
I have recently purchased a SONY NW-HD1 20GB mp3 player from AMERICA.
However, I live in AUSTRALIA.
Im quite new to such things, what sort/type of TRANSFORMER do I need?
cool, thanx for the quick reply, I havent yet taken receipt of it, when I do, Ill spam these forums again with more details about whats written on the charger unit.
If you bought it in the US, you're going to need a whole new transformer, unless the one you have can switch to 230-240V, which I doubt. You already know this Sorry if this sounds condescending, but don't use the US charger in Australia!! This will destroy your new toy.
There's two ways you can go about this:
Contact Sony Australia (or a reseller of the NW-HD1) and ask either of them how much it would cost to buy an original transformer in Australia. I recommend doing this.
The alternative is to take a photo of the specs listed on the transformer and post them in here. You can use www.bbpix.com or www.photobucket.com to host the pics for free or you can just post the specs - in particular the 'Output' specs.
No problem, mate, Tandys or •••• smith everywhere in Australia have all sorts of local trannies, and we are 240v 50hz, usually cost around 10-30 Aussie Dollars, although a lot of new systems have multi voltage trannies so check first
Chris
The output Amp rating is probably more significant than voltages. Not something you can really afford leeway in.
Dck Smiths and Tandy generally only sell vanilla type trannies but are definitely worth a shot. Good suggestion, cj. Jaycar are another one - mind you, all three are owned by Woolies anyway.
