Re: creative launcher
The only way to get the Creative Launcher, who's bugs on XP were never fixed by Creative, is to clean install your original cd first. Before doing that find on a place like driversguide.com the SBLiveXPDriverUpdate.exe (I think that's what it was called). Your not going to be able to use the later 252 Unipack driver as that stuff removes most links to the Launcher. You will, however, get better sound as these drivers were optimized for the Live unlike the later unified drivers. You will lose the Advanced EQ though.
When your install is finished and you reboot, you will need to tread delicately! You've gotta undock the thing and resize it to stretch out far enough to fit all the tabs again. You've also got to uncheck auto-hide in the options and keep the thing away from the very top of the desktop or you'll lose the ability to get it to show. It'll be running but you won't see it!
You have to fix this stuff up on the initial access or it'll stay broken. If you fail the first time, run the cd setup and uncheck the Launcher, reboot, then run the setup and install it again. I got good at getting it undocked the first time but not without initial trial and error.
Once you have it working you should install the SBLiveXPDriverUpdate.exe as the cd drivers are buggy on XP. This will set the Launcher to not run at startup, but you can then open it from the Start Menu and use it normally. But it will ALWAYS be visible as long as you have it turned on. That's the only way, otherwise it'll permanantly hide itself again if you try to dock or auto-hide it.
