    3200+ Venice @ 2.8 GHz

Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Core Processor Review
    Author: Ryan Shrout

"The results were nothing short of amazing, as I was able to reach 2.8 GHz on the standard 1.4v voltage and with standard AMD air cooling."

Sounds like that CPU would make a good PCPer giveaway prize Ryan!!

I've been trying to decide if I should upgrade from my 6 week old 3000+ winnie to a Venice. I think I just decided.

It is a kick ass processor, no doubt.

As for the giveaway -- not quite yet, I'm done pushing it!

Ryan have you tried 4 sticks of double sided ram yet to see if the Venice fixed that problem?

Definitely looking to be a sweet core from the sparse reviews thus far, I wonder how many hits all the vendors have been getting from people hunting daily trying to nab a venice.

Yes! I did in fact successfully run 4 sticks of 512 MB DDR memory on this processor at 6-3-3 2.0 1T.

    Looks very promising...

How did you come by your power consumption numbers Ryan? What is exactly being measured in watts?

    Re: 3200+ Venice @ 2.8 GHz

I'm holding off. I just got a Winnie 3200+ on a DFI Ultra-D board which runs happily at 2650MHZ on retail air. The jump to 2800MHZ won't make my comuter much faster.

All this with 1:1 memory divider btw and voltage at 1.55V. Temps are 36C idle and 46C load. I can live with that.

<Edit> just saw i had to update my sig. This must've been my first post since 2001 or 2002. Had My Thunderbird 1900XP back then
