Doesn't look too bad. But the pre-order special is only for PS2 and xbox - I guess us PC guys don't get the special Midway Treasure.

I tried the demo out for the XBOX and it was NOT good at all. There was really no feel to the game in terms of just point and shoot. Very generic. I will try out the PC demo when it comes out but suggest we all do as the demo was very lame.

Its coming out for the PC, not just the PS2 and XBox. Last I checked pricing for the PS2 and XBox version was $49.99, while the PC version is $29.99.

How long ago did you play the XBox demo? Didn't even know a demo was out? The game is going to be out in less than 10 days, so I don't think a PC demo will be released before hand.

Even demo's can be misleading sometimes. I liked the PainKiller demo a lot, but the full game I found kinda boring (except for a few spots). I don't know, we'll find out soon how Area51 is. It seems pretty good to me just based I what I've seen so far.

Re: Area51: Release Date April 25th

what a coincidence, was playing the original arcade game just last night at the roller rink. yeah i know, we were the oldest people there, but we were lost and had nothing better to do.

great game, i remember thinking the graphics were so awesome.

this new game though, if they're making it for the consoles at the same time, chances are it won't be very good as a pc shooter. this is just from experience, i hope i'm wrong.

I tried the demo out for the XBOX a few months ago. You are right a lot could have changed since then. The game was basically a typical FPS with lack of detail in the environments and the enemy AI was pretty poor. I hope the game for PC and consoles has improved since the demo. The more quality titles out there the better

Re: Area51: Release Date April 25th

It probably is related to the Sega Saturn game, and I know its definitly related to the Arcade one. I too thought the Arcade one had great graphics and was fun.

My understanding is that this is Midways attempt to take the Area51 game and make it a complete first person shooter type game, which it wasn't in earlier incarnations. Hopefully it will be successful. Yes I hope AI is there, and that for PC they use detailed textures, lighting, models, etc.

Went to GameStop yesterday to get Doom3 ROE, and they had big Area51 display with grey alien. Also had pre-order boxes. They looked good, but I didn't pre-order as I like to just pick up games when they are released. I think they said when you pre-order Area51 you get to download some special screen saver. GameStop had good deal on Doom3 ROE, $24.99
