There will always be cheaters in games. There's no denying that. I'm tired of playing Starcraft though. I remember I would sit down on my computer at about 11AM to play one game and I would wind up playing about three games over the span of 12 hours. I don't remember spending that much time on games period. I blame it on those "infinite" resources maps. I can't believe people like playing on those. It's like playing to a stalemate or until someone disconnects because the game is taking too long.

Uh, the US Government, with all their resources can't even keep the hackers out of their big defense department computers.

Do you really think any game can be made "un-cheatable?"

    Unhappy different game

I still play a lot on Battle net. Map hack already exists for the new version 1.08b. The hack takes a lot out of the game. I like the game much better without the hack. There are less rushes because you have to scout first. It also gives you more time to setup your game.

But Starcraft is still a very good strategy game. I always put up a good fight with or without the hack flowing around b.net.

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking. But I still have a blast playing Starcraft. Hacks do take the fun out of the game, but if players suck so bad that they must resort to using it, then they have NO HONOR!

    Tips to play against hack

    To CCR:

I always assume that the other team has hack. That's how I play:

    - Get defense and detection as soon as possible. They may sneak in with lurker or dts
    - Get enough guys before getting second base. Get the base in front of your home base. They see your second base.
    - When helping your partner. Keep some slow guys (tempest, gardience) at home. They may attack you while your guys are away.
    - Don't use tricks such as sneak in to build cannon or block opponent's entrance. Your home base will be weak. They see you.

I know it is a different game. But when I do this, the hacker can not take advantage of me.

Unfortunately, I agree with you that you have to assume they have hacks. The problem when playing teams is that there is a tendency to play defensive verses offensive leaving your allies open for rushes. How anyone can feel that they really won by cheating beats me.

I have to admit it, I love this game!

I can easily defend against a two on one rush. Build two cannons or sunkens only. Hide them behind buildings close to your base. Build guys to defend cannon or sunken. May have to use probe to fight. You'll have enough guys to counter if your allies get attacked. Talk to your allies. Always act together. Say if they attack one of your ally, You and the other should counter attack one of their. It is a team game. You are stronger when you acts together.

I agree. What you describe is very similar to how I play. However, if your partners don't play the same way, hackers will attack the weakest defense. That's the problem. Your team mates are essentially vulnerable while you attempt to rank out some men to either counter or defend. I lost too many games going defensive first leaving teammates to fend for themselves.

Balance is the key. I like the old saying "The best defense is a good offense."

For me, I win quite often after losing one partner. Those hackers like to go total offence and rush. Their bases are weak. They just jam the entrance with guys. With zergs, I go drop and dark swamp. With protoss, I go teleport and stasis. I can kill their bases quite often. I don't have the patient to play terrain. Also terrain has to go slowly. You can't win with two vs three unless you have a good partner.

Hey just curious what maps you guys like to play? Me personally Im obsessed with BGH and cant play anything else. I like having mass armies and working with teams. Maybe we could hang on bnet sometime. Maybe start a channel or some shit so we can play together. There is nothing I enjoy more about SC than to play with people I know (friends) or other good reliable players.

On bnet, BGH is a favorite. I also like regular Hunter as it requires resource management, expansion and more strategy. 1v1, I like meltdown. What is really fun is BGH 2v2v2 or BGH FFA. Look for me "Jayce25"

I like the shared bases maps 3vs 3 and yes a good defencesis a good offence... I love the game but the hacks suck as I can do 6 comps bymyself on a good day but when there is hacks it can be alot harder to defend as the slightest opening in your defence can kill you quick and with a map hack they can see it.

    Lightbulb Warning

Don't play Hunter or Lost Temple against Hacker. They'll kill your expansion. Don't play FFA when there are only three in total. You might end up fighting both of them.
