I know what you mean. I moved from Fedora to Debian/Debian based (Ubuntu) and everything wasn't where it was in Redhat- then I realized that Debian was 'normal' and redhat the wierd one.

And did you know our Linux forum now see's more traffic (posts) than the Windows forum. Not sure if that's because Linux is more popular with our computer-literate membership and penguin lovers are just such a friendly bunch, or if it's just because we serve better refreshments at the Penguin Bar

Because gentoo user's questions require more in depth answers and are usually concerning more complicated things. For instance, we don't need help setting up our sound cards or video cards.

The other reason probably Windows' users do not have any intriguing things to ask, eventually no new learning + no fun.

Re: What distro do you all use?

HI, I have tried and have several different distro's. Mepis and Suse would be my choice if I was to commit to something other than XP.

They are all differnt [meaning a change] from XP, but I am unwilling to spend the time required to become proficient at their use. I had one distro, I don't remember which , that made a mess of my Hdd when I tried to uninstall..

I hate supporting mega rich Bill Gates but I can use my time on something else, O/C, learning electical modding or just building boxes[I have 12 operational at the present, 9 folding].

I've heard PCLinuxOS is really easy as well, things like nV and ATi drivers install easily. What is your take on it?

Mepis has the drivers installed, just choose the one for your card, no need to install.

Re: What distro do you all use?

I vote for Fedora since it is easy to install, where very minimal intervention is required to get it up and running on my machine.

However, I also experiment with Kubuntu, Gentoo and FreeBSD 5.3 since they all have different type of package management and other exclusive features that interest me.
