My cross post are relevent to the situation on each thread. You wouldn't get them if you weren't trying to track me down all over the place and post disconcerns to anything i say. That's just childish, even when you know i'm right. I wan't to point something out here on this subject though, I just want to get this straight.

Your telling me and us that port scanning a federal installment is up for review as a terrorist attack and prosicution. (you already said that) But America or it's judicial system does not think there is a problem with doing it on the corporate and civil level. Basically saying, "they can take it, but we don't have to" Are we not a republic here with a government made up of civil power? Isn't that what we try so hard to achieve by calling this the land of the free. The government does not have any special internet rights that the rest of us don't. They are just more prone to call you on it. For instance lockeed martin, Nobody cares that they are recieving port scans on critical servers since they are a standard corporation. But your cities town hall maintaines the socialistic power to persue such an event?

I just wanna get all this garbage your telling me straight Bryan.

    Unhappy ignorance is bliss?

I use a 3com 56K lan modem for my network and internet connection. Does it function as a firewall also? I do have Black Ice but, I can see that I'll be using Zone Alarm from now on.

Thanks for the great discussion guys..........don't do anything illegal.

Yes, the 3com LAN modems can act as a firewall with NAT. In essence it is still just another router.

I'm just simply trying to clear up misconseptions that are all over the internet these days about port scanning. Sorry to drag you all through this mess. I know everybody that is out there using port scanners want's them to be legal and for everybody to use them so the traffic is so high, they themselves don't get caught doing it. Or the probability calculates to almost nill. It's like the whole music share lawsuites, we all know it's illegal to get copyrighted music, but we all know it's not illegal to get shared music. But the average joe want's to support the idea as to benifit themselves.

(I prefer just thinking about how we screw the nsync, 98 degrees, britney spears, money grubbing record companies Who might I add even with the "sue to popularity" of napster and downloading mp3's in general, picked up an extra billion in revenues last year. 9 billion. and forced us all to have to hear thier makeshift pushed music on paid radio station time so everybody goes out and buys the only thing they hear, record companies stupid CD so it can make itself some more money. Disregaurding talent and creativity of bands and people that actually want to be the musician. And work hard to build thier own band. Only to be turned down by the radio due to the grubbing radio stations pay to play mentality, Advertising alone won't cut it anymore for the radio station. AKA deeming almost all radio these days, garbage) Sorry, very deep though of my own.

We all know no matter what happenes there is no way for them to sue everybody and there is always gonna be a way. Maybe not as easy as Napster, but we will all be able to do it. I remember starting in the ftp server list days of ratio when the messup of the mp3 video codec happened. Just don't believe port scanning is legal, it is not, and you can get caught, fired, fined, or worse because of it. Try to put some thought behind it before you just start scanning down blocks of IP's if you absolutly have to do it. I would prefer you don't since all it does is waist bandwidth for all of us like spam does cuz you want to tag a computer with a warez site or whatever.
