Norton antivirus 2005 won't auto enable

    Hi,
I hope someone here can help me on this problem. Norton antivirus 2005 won't auto enable because the followings are loaded:

    Creative EAX Console
    Creative Surround Mixer
    Creative Speaker Setting
    Creative Graphic Equalizer
    Creatvie THX Setup Console.

I don't have this problem when Norton antivirus 2004 was installed, but the suscription is expired last week and I got 2005 installed.

If I remove the above program then Norton anitivirus 2005 will start auto enable without any problem.

I do need those program for my sound card.

Does anyone have this problem and how to solve it.

    Thanks in advance,

    What is auto enable.
I have 2005 but I'm not sure what you are referring to.

Think he's referring to when his puter starts up. Not sure why those would keep it from auto-enabling though

Re: Norton antivirus 2005 won't auto enable

It's Norton AntiVirus Auto Protection Enabled every time when starting the window. This would shows at low right task bar and said Norton Antivirus Auto Protection disabled and I have to manually enable every time when I turn my pc on.
If I don't enable it then the Security center under control panel said Virus protection is Not Monitored.
I can only make this work by not loading my creative program during start up the window, but then I have to start creative program before I can turn on my winamp or windows media player. Otherwise the music will play without creative equalizer and sound won't be as good.

Hopefully someone have the answer for this.

Have you gone through the list of fixes there? They look as though they might apply to your situation.

What you might be able to try if all of that doesn't work is uninstall both Norton and all the Creative stuff. Use DriverCleaner to clean up any remnants of the Creative software and then install Norton first and then install the Creative stuff one by one, in order of importance to you. You should be able to isolate which particular part of Creative stuff is causing Norton to go bung. If it's a piece of Creative software that is important to you, you might like to try the same process with a different set of Creative drivers...

Yes, I have gone through the list of fixes and remove and re-intall 2 time but still the same. I did remove both norton and creative stuff and use drivercleaner as you have suggested, I then installed norton first because it's so important and then creative one by one.
I found Creative Surround Mixer that cause the problem. So I have this program not installed, since I only use Creative equalizer.
    Thanks for helping.

Glad you found the culprit. Personally, I have little use for Creative software, but the mixer and speaker settings would be the exception - although I see no need to have them in my startup. Are you saying that just having these applets installed on the hard drive prevents NAV 2005 from working?

There is no problem for having them installed on the hard drive as long as they are not loaded at the startup with the windows. You can always use them after the windows started. These programs are only for one time use, once you have the speaker and sound setup most likely you may not use them again.

I agree, thus my confusion as to why it was an issue in the first place.

If the mixer wasn't loaded in your startup, how was it keeping NAV's autoprotect from starting?

    My 2¢
First glad you sorted it out.
    That said/
I wouldn't load any Creative stuff at Start Up/
Put a short cut in Quick Launch Tool Bar.
That way it's a click away when you want it.
NortonAV 2005 is the only thing I load at start up.
Everything else I use is a click away.

so much trouble with Norton, so much fixes for Norton, so much little works... Most of the time you have to reformat and reinstall.

I advise you to change Anti-Virus. Norton is getting old... When you are 10th on scale of 20 and there better AV around the world like Kaspersky.

LOL. Behave, you! It's not as bad as many people make it out to be. Depends on what you want out of an AV program

Good stuff, BRTV, glad you got it sorted

I've had Norton cause me to reformat several customers pc's. Same to be said for Creative software. I find that once the Creative software is installed, it's very hard to get it off a system completely. Norton also is a huge resource hog and noticeably slows down a rig.
Same to be said for Trend's security suite. Norton has around 7 or 8 processes running all the time while Trend has about 6, if you enable their firewall.
I've had people bring in their systems who have Kaspersky Personal Pro also. Seems like there are problems with the kavmm.exe using excessive memory. But at least you fixed it

I don't have the answer for that the only thing that I know is working now for me.
