I always check and do CHKDISK often , so my last one I ran pulled this up in my windows 2000 event viewer
" CHKDISK is verifing Usn Journal "
I am also getting in my event viewer

"CI has started The catalog for C:\system volume information\catalog.wci"

    and
"added scope C: to documents and settings"
    and another event:
    "added scope C: to index"

never saw this before in my event veiwer what is this? spyware?

When I first saw CI, I thought it was referring to the Indexing Service, but that's CISvc. Google doesn't reveal much useful information. Have you installed any new programs lately?

    brothergc,

Run the online scan Here, this program will identify for you which programs/services are considerd safe or not.

    Hope this helps

thankyou some interesting reading . Seems like this is a ongoing problem , perhaps I never noticed it before because I never ran this Hatachi 120 gig hard drive for as long as I have , it may be too fast , also I useally run VIA chipsets instead of this nvidia chipset I am currently running and I am using the 2.6 Nvidia IDE drivers . Via chipsets run about 10 Mps slower on their IDE channels

since I came up clean on the scan on the site you suggested I am just going not to worry about it

    brothergc,

Perhaps you would consider dumping the nvidia Ide drivers and just use the Microsoft Ide drivers...........The Nvidia Ide drivers have been shown to produce a number of issues for different users... Personally I have experminted with and without them and can verify that not using the nvidia Ide drivers provides for a more stable system environment.
