Thumbs up Game of the Month - September 2005 = Battlefield 2

As posted in a thread below, lets try a game of the month type thread. We'll start out this first thread with Battlefield 2.
This means that general discussion of BF2 would want to come here, though I suppose if you feel you need to draw attention to a particular technical issue in BF2 feel free to create a regular thread (though the idea is that this thread should make this the place to post most questions.) If Lenny, Coda, or I feel it is appropriate, we will merge other threads related to BF2 into this thread.
After a month, this thread will be cut loose to float around on it's own and a new game will be selected via popular vote. The current game of the month game will always be a selection in the next poll so it is possible to have the same game for however long it keeps being voted in. If the game of the month thread gets cut loose, it will still be open for posting just not stickied. Future game of the month suggestions should be made in this thread in a dedicated thread to be started the last week of each month by a mod (official poll thread to actually decide the next game will be seperate.) Anyone is welcome to post a suggestion and/or vote.
These are the rules, subject to change to make things run smoother if need be. Suggestions always welcome via PM or post.
    Fire away!
Edit: This thread now covers August, September and October 2005. So speaks the poll!

Re: Game of the Month - August = Battlefield 2

Theres a slightly new interview at gamespot about BF2 spec ops expansion pack - check it out here: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/ba...w_6130167.html

    Heres my favorite statement:

GameSpot: First off, there are a lot of people voicing concern and complaints that current issues in Battlefield 2--such as bugs and balancing--haven't been addressed, but yet DICE is working on an expansion anyway. Would you like to address that?

Mike Doran: This is a common misconception that we'd love to address. The truth is that work on Battlefield 2: Special Forces began several months ago. The expansion pack is being developed by DICE Canada, while DICE Sweden is running the postlaunch support team. To be clear, we are actively working on the next patch, and development of Special Forces has in no way affected our continued efforts towards supporting the base product.

That might help those that think "EA" is not fixing the game, when in fact it is Dice that is in charge of everything to begin with.

Another fun fact is that there will be jet skis in the expansion, that should be pretty fun.

i still think ea is being stupid in making the expansion already when people are having so many problems with the game...hell people are hacking into it

I want bots available in the dedicated server. I don't understand why EA is being so strict about severs. Ranked servers I can understand but what do they care what we do on unranked servers. I feel like they are saying ... you can only have fun the way WE want you to have fun

Oh and the month and year should probably be in the thread title.

Please notice the bold and underlined sections from the statement above.

Firstly, EA is not making the expansion, DICE Canada is. Secondly a whole division of DICE is working on Post launch support (aka patches and fixes) So everything is being worked out, the 1.03 patch is expected at the end of this month.

Sounds like its a system wide issue now

Tried the games without overclocking your cpu and such?

Yup. Its really weird. When I'm actually playing on a map or something, they work fine, but during the loading screen, they camp to desktop every 30 seconds or so. I've checked my 12V, it doesn't drop anylower than it usually does, and Prime and F@H work okay...

So all your games crash during loading? That could be a memory or hard drive issue (those would be my first guess) but in fact it could be anything
