If you guys want to only compare FPS.... you're not even looking at the monitor. There is a hell of a lot more to a video card then FPS. Image quality, features, HDR+AA, advanced shader performance, etc all play a major role in cards.
If his eVGA card is the KO edition, then he doesn't have to add anything; it beats the X1800XT. Also, both current & upcoming games are pixel shader limited, so ATIs vertex shader supremacy shines only in 3DMark2005. Only a very small number of games, that ATI can influence, might end up demanding more vertex shader power, in order to better adapt to the R520.
