UB, I thought you might enjoy this simple fact.

    Code:
                99 The Uncle B's 6,982,872 12,218 United States
100 Team Jolt Cola 6,976,671 2,095 United Kingdom

    Well, time for an update!

Newest cruncher is almost ready for primetime. It's all broke in and sorted out. Next week I'll try the "pin trick" to push the FSB up to run each core @ 2.4 from 1.86.

    Other news:
    Climate:
    The B's are #17 with 8,714.14 units/day and a current total of 191,808.00 units. All with just 10 PC's.

    Proteins:
    The B's are #5 with 4,216.99 units/day and a current total of 92,140.50 units with 18 PC's.

VERY Nice system. Drool....A Farm in a box, cool.

Are you going to put tape on one of the cpus contact points to run them at 333mhz? Does the board overclock at all?

I remember having 8 Amd xp's in a spare bedroom filling up one wall. Now you have 4 times as much CPU power in 1 case.....

The good old days of Seti Classic.....

I ordered one more e4400 system for work for $318. (Cpu, mem, board). I will have six core2's running soon and still won't be able to match what you guys put out.... (until fall that is, cheap Quads....LOL)

Yes, I plan on doing the tape mod on both the CPU's and it puts them at 2.4 GHz / core = 19.2 GHz with one machine....man all that on one PSU, too! That's the real savings. I think I will watercool it as well as the Dynatrons are quite noisy.

No OC features on these server boards. Ones with options are hard to find.

Did you build it just for Boinc or will it serve some other purpose?
Will you be retiring a less efficient box?
How is your PC cabinet doing now that its getting warmer?
Did it work well this winter pumping the heat back into the house?

Still inside. It worked very well this Winter. I actually left a lot of the heat in the garage...It kept the Boxster at 60F when it was way below freezing outside.
I'll need to do some plumbing changes as this rig, when installed, will be water cooled. It will go in the lower cabinet. I have found that a lot of the heat comes from the PSU's, so multiple core/CPU mobo's will be all I buy for the farm in the future.

Here'e a long shot of the rig as it sits today. Still inside my office as I make sure it's good to go.

It still has a CD Burner on it as well as I'm currently using a Seagate 80 GB drive.

    Closeup of the PSU:

    Oh....let's turn that over!

Yep - those chips are really sweet

1.86GHz at 1.1v only draws 80Watts per chip. Even at 2.4GHz and stock voltage, they only go up to 103Watts. So at stock, two CPUs fully loaded are only drawing 160Watts, plus say another 100Watts if you had a basic graphics card, HD and CD drive so easily within the capabilities of a decent (SeaSonics) 650Watt PSU. Heck, you could probably do it on a good 300 watter if you disconnected the CD drive

Now compare that to a Q6600 quad core at 2.4GHz (1.25v) and it's 130 watts stock. Now OC it to say 3GHz @ 1.4v and it's up to 204Watts!!! Most motherboards fall over trying to regulate and cleanly supply that amount of current to the CPU.

Uncle Bob - do you have any vCore adjustment in the bios or are you hoping to get there on stock voltages?

Stock voltages, the Asus board doesn't have any that I can find.
