No IIRC it's slighly better in some games than the 6800Gt but the 6800GT still edges it out in a few. Basically it's the perfect middle-performance niche filler IMO. Can't beat it for the price.

6800GS is the best bang for the bucks. I'd wait for 7800GS before making any upgrade decisions.

Re: NVIDIA's newest GeForce 6800 GS

Haha, that's kind of hard to do, seeing as though im cheap and didn't buy the pro version of 3dmark05.. but still somehow aquired it But I can do this for you. [IMG][/IMG]

Although if I had proper cooling, and my opty avalible, I would have a MUCH higher score. (Getting the opty hopefully wendsday.) Im only on water BTW.
One more thing to add, somehow im being screwed on 2mhz core heh. When I put it from 468-470 it only does 468, and when i put it to 471, it does 472.5 (unstable) I can probaly fix this by reinstalling the driver tho. but im too lazy haha. Also I would get higher score with fresh install of windows, but im also too lazy for that. I think I will do all these things as a farewell to my 6800GT as I will be selling it shortly after i get my opty, and going for a 7800GT PCI-E

BTW - If your going to show me a 6800GS on phase/cascade then yes, you will most likely beat me, but that is somewhat of an unfair advantage - as is my water if you are infact on air.

Incase you didnt know - the only reason I use the pro version of 3dmark is because they give you extra points. This is cheap as hell in my book (on the part of futuremark, not the proversion users) Also, when you have an "ill-goten" proversion it doesnt let you post your scores on orb hehe.

Re: NVIDIA's newest GeForce 6800 GS

I went to check to see if i could find your score on 3dmark05, but there a place to choose 6800GS.. only like 6800GT/U/NU

Also, if you can beat my score - more power to ya brother, as I figure youll need atleast 624mhz core to compete with my fill rate. ((468 x 16) / 12) = 624.

Yea, I have also heard of it being extremely overpriced as well, but i think it depends on the vendor. 6800gs under 250!

This was done with a 2.4ghz A64 4000 and I'm bet the settings where not tweaked to score the highest possible.

Here is an EVGA 6800gs at Monarch for $208 and between now and 11/30 there is an additional $10 rebate, $198 makes this one helluva card for the price.
