What did they offer last year? I'm interested in this, especially if I can save some money on the new system I'm building...

Last year there were two bundles. 1. A Tyan Dual Opteron board + 2 Opteron 246's + Windows Server 2003 for $500, and 2. An A8N-E with a 3200 Venice and Windows XP 64 for $250.

Yes and I never got one...I preordered 1 of each and after getting there they said they where sold out.

people were walking out of there with 10-20 bundles each, and I could not get my 1 bundle.

they offered a second-chance offer to me, just because i missed it the 1st time...but when i tried to redeem mine 2 bundles, it said i could not because i had already exceeded my limit of 100 bundles.

I do hope they do better at order tracking than they did last year

I heard about some of those problems.

Didn't have that problem here. In fact, they upgraded the Tyan board because they ran out of the original ones. But it is a good warning. If your city is toward the end of the schedule, might watch out for that.

    I noticed this as well...

** This bundle is intended only for solution providers and system builders.
AMD and Microsoft require a Tax ID to qualify for this or any tech tour bundle promotion.

That was on the form last year too. I don't recall the form exactly, but I imagine you can be somewhat creative. Your SS number is a tax ID number.

Is there a link that explains how this works? I'm not familiar with these events. I'm guessing to go to the city on the date and buy one of the bundles?

Here is a link from the e-mail:

https://www.marketbuilder2.com/(xvky...2006intro.aspxIt is a seminar. You register now, fill out the form. If you want to buy a bundle, you buy it now. You enter your CC information etc. in the form for the purchase.

When you go to the event, you give your name and show your id, they cross you off the list, give you a pre-made name badge.

You go in. there will be display booths by companies like Microsoft, Tyan, Ingram Micro, or whomever. You walk around, look at the displays, beg the booth babes and doods for t-shirts and other swag.

Soon the presentations begin. AMD and microsoft have reps that have presentations, maybe some of the booth reps. This is what the event is for, AMD, MS and other vendors have their chance to deliever their pitches to you as a system builder.

The bundles are not available to pick up until the lunch break. At that time they set up tables. Everyone forms lines, shows their ID AND the credit card that you bought the bundle with, and they hand you the stuff.

Then, you can go and have a hotel buffet lunch, and go back for the secand half or leave. They have drawings for CPU's and things to keep people interested and hanging around for the whole day.

Hmmm. Sounds interesting. Over 3 hour drive to the nearest one for me. Not sure it's worth it. Something to think about I guess.
