Can Internal SATA drive be used externally?

I have a spare 250G SATA Hitachi drive laying around here and i want to use it, problem is i dont have any internal space for it anywhere. So what im wondering is, is there a gadget or an enclosure that i could put this drive into then connectiong it to my USB port? Like a conversion kit of some kind?

This works in a existing 3.5 bay. There are others that are removeable as well. It's a start. I know they make external, but you have to have a SATA cable port as well, remember.

Most sata enclosures still hook up to onboard sata controllers unlike IDE enclosures which hook up to usb get a sata external pci add on card

Thnx for responses. I was actually looking for something in the way of USB connection. I dont want to have to hook up any cables to my motherboard or install addon cards.

Here is a list of external HD enclosures offering choice of external interfaces. Most are for use with a PATA drive, however.

Here is one for a SATA drive.
