When using SLI Temps of whole system too High

To me 1 card is better then SLI.

When i have 2 EVGA's 7800GT cards in for SLI for some reason my whole system, CPU,Memory,Videocards run very hot 10C higher on idle. I have excellant airflow 2x 120mm fans and a Zalman 9500 on the CPU. With one 7800 everything is fine and very low temps. Doesnt even break a sweat. When gaming i crash in SLI cuz these high temps i guess. So i been using just one card and plays/runs fine. I do score very well in SLI but thats about it. 3dmark05 11,273. I could care less about the bench score but be able to play with a cool pc and not crash during gaming. Even if i use the other card alone its fine, Just when SLI its no good. Everything is done correctly.
    Any suggestions?

    This is my system:

    Opteron 146 CABYE
    ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe
    2gig G-Skill PC4000
    EVGA 7800GT CO
    2x 36gig WD Raptors Raid 0
    ENERMAX Liberty ELT620AWT
    Win XP Pro 64-bit/

CPU Temp with one card 32C with SLI at 42C
GPU Temps with one card 38C with SLI at 50C idle
Memory with one card barely warm with SLI cant even touch it so hot.
Latest bios on Motherboard is installed.

WHAT DO I HAVE BAD HERE??????

Apparently it needs to be more excellent. Dunnno, maybe you have both fans blowing in or something. Got one coming in low on the front and another blowing out high in the back?

OK, try it this way, remove the side panel to the case, and point a floor fan inside. If no floor fan, lay the open case on its side so that the hot air wil rise up out of it and away into the room.

Run the system this way and test for stability. If it is stable this way, then you have proven that the answer is to improve the case ventilation.

Trust me! Please , thats not it. Did you read what i said. I have better cooling then Water. I been doing this for a long time. Im a big fan on cooling my pc. Something is wrong when i go SLI, Motherboard or Videocard. Please do not say i need better ventilation. This even happens when no sidepanel also. Actually case runs cooler with side panel on, because of my airflow i have set up.

Basically the only answer im looking for its your card is bad, or your motherboard is bad when SLI. Like i said its only when using SLI mode. very wierd i know. Just want to know if anyone else has similiar problems when in SLI. Both cards are fine running single. Whole pc runs cool as can be. Im not a noob here, this is my first SLI but everything is set up correctly.

The new A8N32-SLI DLX is set too more less equal the temps. On mine now it reads at Idle, 54c on BOTH ! hehee ! On yer Mobo it will make GPU-1 8-12c hotter no matter what its in Idle or gaming.

I have my vid cards pumped and the mobo temps stays at 30C even under load/ CPU will climb to 49C under heavy load and it is OC'd to 3.0GHz. My vid cards run 68-71C OC'd ,but I have two 120mm side window fans (one for CPU intake and one for vid cards). That said something does appear wrong if your SLI is running hot and crashes games! What are the temps under load for each vid card? Depending on the rendering, each vid card does have different loads and the temps vary, but one should not get hot enough to crash a game (fan on vid card working?).

COOLING IS NOT THE ISSUE HERE, but i have Artic Cooler 5 on both. When SLI they do get high for some reason. Single card run 32C idle, not sure load. I used Arctic silver on the Core too.

But COOLING NOT A ISSUE! Im looking for different answer other then cooling.

If cooling is NOT AN ISSUE AS YOU KEEP SHOUTING, then something must be generating excessive heat. Use a finger / hand to find out what.

Re: When using SLI Temps of whole system too High

FYI ... "CPU Temp with one card 32C with SLI at 42C
GPU Temps with one card 38C with SLI at 50C idle"

These temps in now way shape or form would cause crashing. They are within manf. specs...

Give me some info, what games you play, when it crashes, same part of map, same activity etc.. Is your board one of the new FULL x16 bandwidth SLI boards? I think so to lazy to check though...

My first suggestions judging by your cpu would be to set everything to default settings and run things and see what happends.. Let me know what happends with that, if you are running stock settings let me know, also let me know what games are crashing and when ..

Oh its your video card I bet : P

You have the CO version.. Have you updated bios? Have you tried to lower your "factory" overclock? They were causing a bunch of issues and the fix was updating the video cards bios or using cool bits to clock it down a bit.. Thats the only thing that just caught my eye as wrong as of yet.. What are you clocks at?

I did update bios and i think clocks were default 470/1100. I havnt installed coolbits but this only happens in SLI both card when in single, can play for hours no problem. SLI is the problem.

you get it from the Nforce drivers package after you extract them. Check your pm for i have the zip file link.

This is what the Win64-bit contents look like when you extract to floppy.
