Booting from a USB flash drive on VNF3-250

    Hi,
I'm trying to boot from a USB flash drive since I have no FDD. I'm wondering which setting in BIOS allows me to do that. I'm assuming it's boot priority, but I only see USB-FDD, USB-ZIP and USB-CDROM, no USB-flashdrive or anything like that.

    Thanks!

Check this link, http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=405658 , it is for the VnF4 and has about everything we know about the issue. I haven't tried the non-HP method yet, but you are motivated.
What bios are you using? The latest may have additions. See bios sticky

I'm using the 7-29 BIOS, and I would like to avoid flashing the BIOS if possible since it works, and I don't have a lot of luck with the BIOS so far.

Edit: I just tried all 3, 1 for each priority, and it didn't work. The USB flash drive is detected before the PCI listing while booting up, but after that it seems to be looking for a network boot drive, and then upon failing, complains that there's no system disk.

OK, I got it to work. Turns out the boot priority needs to be set at HDD for #1, and then within the HDD boot priority, my flash drive shows up as a USB-HDD that I can select as the first priority. Tried it, and it works with the HP method.
