    Windows 98 Vnetbios.vxd error

I just helped a neighbor wipe and do a clean reinstall of 98se. Every time 98 reboots it says that it can't find vnetbios.vxd, press any key to continue. pressing any key the system boots up fine.

How can I get rid of this message???

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Windows 98 Vnetbios.vxd error

In the WIN98 setup folder, you should find a file called NET10.CAB. The file is located in there. You should be able to view the CAB file with a file compressio program like WinZip or WinRAR and then extract only vnetbios.vxd.

Another way is to run System File Checker:

    Re: Windows 98 Vnetbios.vxd error

You could wipe out networking components and reinstall all the networking again too. This error is usually the result of windows wanting the cd for final updates and the message was ignored.. At some point during one of the boots, windows lost the path to the \win98 cab folder and needed the location probably typyed in by the user to the cab files like
    D:\win98\
