I bought a 60gxp 40gig IBM HDD, box version by accident. What am I missing that I need to definately get? I know I'm missing the cable, is there anything else? If it's only the cable will any cable from a retail store work? Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Retail boxed drives usually come with cables and sometimes 3 1/2 to 5 1/4 brackets. It is OEM units that come bare?Originally posted by Tiger

In any case, ATA100 and ATA66 drives require an 80 conductor IDE cable to work at their rated speeds. You can use any brand, the drive doesn't care so long as it's 80 conductor.

thanks a lot for the reply. sorry, I sometimes here them called white box, but I meant OEM version.
Ok, so I just need to get a 80 conductor cable. Do I need the brackets or does my case have it already (antec sx840)?
thanks again.
A new retail motherboard includes one 80 pin(ATA100/66), one 40 pin (ATA33) and a floppy ribbon.
I have some extras, if you need some.
My box full of P:
Gigabyte 965P-DS3 - E6300 Allendale @3465 (495*7)
2 X 1024 MB Corsair Balistic PC2 8000 @ 990
BFG 8800GTX
XCLIO Stablepower 1000W PSU
2 X 250 GB Maxtor DiamolndMax II SATA RAID0 - PCI-E RAID card
Plextor PX755A DVD/RW
Creative X-FI XtremeMusica sound - FPS 2000 surround speakers
Antec P160 Case
The Antec case you've got will hold 3 hard drives if I'm not mistaken. You don't need any brackets.
