I take it you are talking about PCcanada.com? If so that is the best price around however I have another idea that may be beneficial depending on what province you live in.

Order it from ncix.com and Ill tell you why.

1.) They will price match to the cheapest place you can find so you are still paying bottom dollar for the availability.

2.) They don't charge a surcharge for buying on credit cards like most walk in stores do.

3.) You only have to pay 7% GST not the full 15% (if you are in Ontario or BC) so that saves you some as well.

4.) Shipping is cheap at about $10 max for express.

5.) Their RMA service is great with you being able to return the item to them for up to a year on most items as opposed to 7 day for walk in stores which only guarantee the item to not be DOA or 30 days like other online shops. This saves you having to deal with the manufacturer. I buy most things from them if possible as it saves me more than driving 10 mins down the street to any of my local shops.

hope that helps and yes I would recommend the drive at that price. Being so new I can't see it falling anytime soon and even so maybe like $10-15. Worth waiting another 6 weeks to save such a small amount?

    Re: 150 Gig Raptor Review!

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll probably get it in a couple of weeks.

EDIT: I saw it NCIX and it's $371.50 compared to $364.99. I couldn't find anything about price matching on their site though...can you point me to where that is? I checked out shipping and with everything together it is pretty much $420 which is the same thing as getting it from Premier Computer Canada which is almost in the same city/town as me. If I get it from NCIX I'd have to wait a while. I recently ordered something from them from Dec 15th which still hasn't arrived.

    Re: 150 Gig Raptor Review!

You can price match when you actually put the unit into the basket. On the bottom it will say click here to price match. Give the direct link to the page you want to match and it should automatically do it or will do it during processing with an email being sent your way with the results. If you live in the same city you are paying 15% tax just like me being in Brampton. Saving 8% on $400 is almost $32 savings. Even with the shipping of 10-$15 you are still saving $20. Unless you plan on paying cash/debit for your drive from pccanada they will charge you another 2-4% for a credit card surcharge bringing the total even higher. You shouldn't have to wait with NCIX as checking now they have at least 10 in stock ready to ship. If you pick express shipping you should have it in 2 days.

    Re: 150 Gig Raptor Review!

I am just wondering if it will be worth grabbing these right away. We all know the 74GB raptors had 4 'silent revisions' since their first release with each one getting better. I know nothing stays the same and everything gets updated eventually but 6 months down the road are we going to see a firmware update to these newer drives making them even better? If so I'm afraid all initial buyers are going to be left out because WD doesn't seem to give out firmware updates for their drives. I always loved the fact that Hitachi did however.

I wouldn't hold off. Performance increases resulting from firmware updates are seldom detectable outside of benchmarks anyway. WD has gobs of experience in firmware optomization from the 36 and 74 gig models so I wouldn't expect to see many changes in the 150 gig model.

Interesting view and I have to agree. I just have a sickness in always having to have the latest and best even if negligble and only noticeable in benchmarks. I wish WD would allow firmware updates as that would solve any worry for anyone.

I want these new drives now for something to play with but without hard facts on the difference between these current drives and the newly coming X drives I want to hold off. I heard the X drives are better optimized for single user use which is what I'm after.

I'm sure that is the big difference between the two 150 gig models, and that is my reason for wanting one real bad meself! I've outgrown most of my gotta have the newest, but this one has a helluva grip on me.

On the product link it says that it qualifies for Express Shipping via Purolator. It should be $10 for next day [at least that's what it advertises] but when I went to the Check out section it didn't have that option on it. How do I get that Express Shipping for $10 deal?
