jep timings are the problem: @CL3 i got it more stable, and there must be a difference between the multiplier @10x i got 2667 stable @9x not, the best divider for me is 166.

Re: Socket 754 E6 Venice overclocking

I've just been handed some new memory - G.Skill ZX series PC3200, a pair of 512mb sticks. Anyone got any experience of these? I've seen a review showing the 2gb set (2x1gb) reaching 260mhz.

Right, inched it up some more - 2800mhz CPU, 233mhz RAM, very happy JRS.

AFAIK, the G.Skill ZX PC3200 is considered as good quality "value" ram, not known to be great O/Cer's.

My 1mb SuperPi varies between 32 and 33secs, depending on what mood the computer is in. And yep, 2.8ghz is completely stable

I just got mine in today, ordering a DFI party nf3 250gb board tomorrow.

Is dfi a good board? What do you recommend?

The nF3 UT 250Gb is a great board, runs rock stable when set up correctly, and has all the "tweaks" you'll need for heavy O/Cin' in the bios.

BTW, James Smith, is SuperPi32m okay for ya at that speed? Have you run OCCT and Prime yet?

I've got the DFI nf3 250gb with a venice 3000 this week. Yesterday I started my overclocking exploits with stock cooling. I seriously can't believe how cool this processor runs.

Like some of the other people, I don't have memory that can run faster than 205, so i have to put it on a divider. At 1.550 volts, i can easily run 267x10 with a divider of 3/4 with default memory timings. I'm pretty sure I can run faster than this -- I start having to up the voltage a lot more past this point.

Honestly, this is the easiest overclock experience I've ever had. I started my overclocking efforts with an xp2100 on an epox nforce2 board, and OMG, this is so much easier.

To be honest, I haven't bothered with OCCT and Prime yet. I've been unable to make it bomb back out to the desktop in some fairly intensive games. I'll do some benchmarking runs at the weekend.

how "cool" is the chipset running, and at what juice? mine needs 1.6v at 300htt,1.7v at 350 and 1.8v to hit 400.

That's the one issue I have with my MSI K8N - you don't get much in the way of voltage adjustments, and the ones it does give you are invariably completely inaccurate
