It isn't as bad as some say. I have had HL1 and just finished HL2 for the 2nd time not more than 20min ago. I hadn't played it since release, but started it again a few weeks ago. I had forgotten much of it. It is a very good fps. A good story, most levels are quite different from one another and I have never had any trouble with Steam. A couple times it took a 2-5 minutes to update, but never a problem of any sort.

It is worth a buy from the bargain bin for sure
