However, the problem seems to be with web browsing and not the actual connection as your able to maintain AIM and downloads.

If the connection drops, then all connections would fail including downloads.

Did you purchase the cable modem or is it a rental? If its a rental you might want to try a modem swap.

    its a rental..

is there any way to like get the swap through mail?

I dont want some greasy comcast guy in my room.

or maby the comcast guy could just drop buy, and i can give him the modem... but through the mail would be easier

It depends on the companies policies, you need to contact them about it.

Re: ugh, losing internet connection part 2

I have had this happen to me and this is how I got it to work.
    Reset you cable modem.
You do this by turning your computer off then take the power cord out of the modem and disconnect the cable.
Let it set for 1 min and then connect the cable then plug it back in.
Then turn your computer back on.

Dont know if this will work for you but it has worked for me when I start having page loading problems.

I have even tried unplugging it over night.

I have had this problem before, and the tech came to my house, and replace the modem. I still had the problem from what i can remember for a few weeks, then it all of a sudden dissapeared.

can anyone please help me, i am utterly disgusted with this problem.

Im ready to just throw my computer out, and cancel the internet.

comcast says it is my problem, while everything makes it look like it is THEIR problem.

Did you ask them if you can swap the modem?

The other thing you can try is to use a PCI network adapter with a new install. ( Only install mobo drivers and a Antivirus, no firewalls.)

yes, and they said they want the tech to come here.

To be honost, in order for the tech to come here i would have to move my computer, and it would be too much of a hassle if it doesnt fix the problem.

Im going to change the ethernet card in my comp today... i mean, it doesnt hurt to try.

Why would you need to move the computer?
