Soo, how about a price drop in Raptors already...

With the release of that 150gb, I think its about time to drop that forever lingering $150 dollars down a bit. Anyone have any idea if/when this will happen?

Not personally, but it shouldn't be long now that the 150 gig models are on the shelves.

I wouldn't expect anyone to sell them at a loss.
They really are built well and in a class by themselves for technology.
But I'll sure grab some 74's if they do drop to maybe 50% of their current price. I'm just not holding my breath.

figure the 74's will go down to the 36's price and the 36's will go OOP.

I'd imagine they are going to make a 75GB model with 1 platter to replace the current 74, though. The 75GB would cost less to make than the current 74GB model.

They can't sell raptors for under $100 and still make money. I figure the 75's (if made) will settle in the $130 area.

Yes, that's a OEM model with limited distribution to selected system builders.

that may be the single platter model of the 150GB raptor that I suggested earlier.

I don't think they made a whole new raptor just for the OEM market with different platters.

Quite possible. Might even be a pair of 40 gig platters. The 80 gig model has been around at least 6 months that I know of.
